Say Cheese!

Tonight, Mommy set up the ultimate cheese tray as we sat down together to watch Wallace and Gromit, and it was just wonderful.  Yes, we shared a bit of Transylvanian Romanian Cave Cheese, along with some other cheeses.  We didn't have any Wensleydale with us, but there was enough of a unique assortment to make for a splendid variety of cheese.  It's not like we do this terribly often, but every so often, it's fun to do a sampling of all kinds of unique cheeses, being sure to throw in favorites to turn to if you taste something that's not necessarily your favorite.

Well, today the quest for overalls ended, and we have ourselves a complete "Wreck-it Ralph" costume for Sunday.  The staff at KidPak got up earlier today to be down at Hebron Christian Academy (and for a good portion of the morning too), where we had a good service at their new building.  We're not at the spot that all assemblies will be in the future, but it was a good location for the meantime.  And things went well, with the kids quite happy to see us once more.  It involves a bit of lugging things around, large speakers and so forth.  But we did that, and while out, we stopped at Sam's Club, which I haven't been to in ages.  We picked up candy for the Fall Festival, and a lot of it. We pre-ordered this, so it was simple enough to pick up.  This took a while to load up, but that's what we did, and all was well.

Madison had her taekwondo again tonight, and of course she'll be there tomorrow as well for the Trunk or Treat.  But she enjoyed tonight as always, and again, she isn't really missing ballet so much right now.  School today went well - they're going on a field trip soon, one on November 9th to go to Medieval Times, a place I've been wanting to take her for a long time.  Now she'll go first, and go without us.  Her biggest concern currently is eating a piece of meat with her hands, as if this is some foreign experience to her.  She'll see what it's all about soon enough, and hopefully she'll enjoy the meal - and the show too!

PUMPKIN COOKIES!  We made some pumpkin cookies, and I wanted to share a few designs with you here.

Madison and Daddy spent a good amount of time on this.  Rather than just sprinkling some orange sugar on each one and calling it a night, the two of us made each one an artistic little creation!

There was barely enough orange though, so we were careful in our placement of it.  In the end, we had just enough to make some tasty decorative cookies for the upcoming party.

That's something worth smiling about!  We thought about the eyeballs beforehand - these were leftover "spooky" decorations, so we thought to add them to these cookies as well, and they were pretty funny looking!

We went for a few cookies with the traditional pumpkin design, but the winners are always quite a bit different.  This one that Madison made cracked us up, and is my favorite for the night:

Anyway, it was fun, and they cook up really quickly.  We stacked them up and added them to the other fun foods we'll have at the party on Saturday.  Though they'll probably be gobbled up pretty quickly, we had a nice time making them!

So tonight at bedtime, it was another chapter of Nancy Drew's latest adventure, and lo!  There were black widow spiders.  Daddy can deal with snakes, wolves, beetles, worms, and even sharks.  But black widow spiders I draw the line at.  Fortunately, Nancy found the offending arachnid... and squashed it!

We slept a little easier knowing one less poisonous spider is out there...!
