Don't Wreck-It

Madison probably had her biggest chunk of dialogue on stage yet today, a few lines to deliver in front of everyone.  This one might have been my favorite:

CHUN LI:  “We need to find Ralph as soon as possible.  Then M Bison’s Empire will be destroyed.  And I can have vengeance.  And I can get back to being a young single girl.”

NERDO:  (looking at CHUN LI curiously) “Okay… that seems a little …intense?”

WII FIT TRAINER:  (somber) “It’s not her fault.  She’s programmed with one of the most tragic back stories ever.”

She did great though, and it was another great message for our series.  This one was about the movie "Wreck-it Ralph," which is amazing.  You can see Pastor Lance here talking about how each one of us is not a glitch.

We're no glitch.  We're royalty.  It was a nice message about treating others with kindness, and knowing who we are, children of God.  Madison came out after the second service, anxious to hear the message of course.  She's kept up with her book and followed along with the messages, ready to tell us all about them later on when we ask.

The costumes have been great this series.  You can see a few of them above - we have a crowd on stage already, but everyone is enjoying it, including us, of course.  It's fun to talk video games, and play them too.  The arcade games are busy, and we've been playing at home too, just to celebrate.

Afterwards, we're posing with kids in front of our Wreck-it Ralph wall, although you can't see any kids (outside of Madison of course) in this picture here.  Just before the rest of the kids are dismissed from the auditorium, Madison and the others gather out there and get ready for photos with the kids.

You can see the Wii Fit Trainer, Vanellope von Schweetz, Chun Li, Princess Peach, Link and Lara Croft here.  Lara got a lot of attention, which was surprising, as we probably worked the least on that costume.

Anyway, it was a great day today.  We did some grocery shopping today and picked up some cranberry sauce for the school's Thanksgiving donations.

There's a competition to see which grade collects the most cranberry sauce, which is... random.  Don't get me wrong, first of all I love cranberry sauce.  Dearly.  Secondly, it's for Thanksgiving, so I get that.  It's just funny to focus completely on cranberry sauce cans alone.  At the school, there is this ginormous pile of cans of cranberry sauce.  Is there a local cranberry farm cartel that is in on this donation scheme?  Just kidding, of course.  I know it's all for a good cause, which is why we bought a few cans for Madison to bring in.

Madison was playing from her sheet music today, music we downloaded for her.  It took a bit to find just the right balance in an arrangement for this song, one not too difficult but also challenging enough to be enjoyable.  We got just that, and Madison was practicing a bit, and also making all sorts of notations on the sheet music.  I have it saved on the computer to make a couple prints, just in case.

We watched "Nightmare Before Christmas" tonight, and it never gets old.  We were all there seated on the couch with popcorn, the evening setting in, and Daddy humming along with the songs.  We also watched a Dr. Seuss "Grinch Night" television special, which was partly for research for the new series.  But it also matched our theme of the season.  Honestly, it wasn't that great, but we can say we saw it.

Madison went to bed on time, and after a bit of reading, prayers and zerberts.  She still hides when she calls out from upstairs, "Ready!"  Daddy comes up and looks for her, and her latest thing is to be standing somewhere nearly in plain sight, or at least give that impression when you come by a second time.  I love our little traditions.

After Madison went to bed, we were watching some old television shows like "Newhart," "The Andy Griffith Show," and "The Dick Van Dyke Show."  They were all with the theme of the season, and fun to watch.  It's a great time of year, and we're really having fun!
