October Themed Small Group Lesson

Madison was hitting things with a stick again tonight, which is always a good thing to do when it comes to defending yourself.  Seriously, give me a good stick over a set of nunchucks.  Just pick it up and whack something with it, right?  That's what Madison did, although there was a bit of flair to each strike, along with some twirling and so forth.  She had a great time tonight, now a yellow belt and with a bit of seniority there in the dojo.  She and another yellow belt were the highest ranking ones in class now, a sudden change in status for her!  She bowed everyone in and out tonight, leading everyone in reciting the pledge.

She and Daddy were studying for a math quiz tomorrow, one with coefficients, variables, constants, terms and quotients.  There was all kinds of algebraic terminology, and plenty of problems to solve as well.  She's got a good handle on it, and we're of course proud.

Tonight we were watching a few Halloween themed specials, like "Laverne & Shirley," "Beverly Hillbillies," and later Mommy and Daddy were watching a Halloween-themed episode of "Frasier" as well.  Watching these old television shows has been fun each night, sort of getting into the spirit of things.  Madison was watching season three of a show called "Bunk'd," one that she loves quite a bit.

Speaking of themes, this morning we were tearing into our Halloween themed breakfast, from pop-tarts with orange icing and pumpkin patterns, to all those themed cereals in the house.  We've got a lot of this stuff in the house.  We even shared a sparkling pumpkin cider tonight after studying.

Once we dropped her off at school, Madison was at Live to Give, her new club this year (although she was in it last year at her elementary school).  She was making posters and generally setting things up for the upcoming drives for charity, both for the hurricane relief, and of course for the holiday seasons.  She dropped off cans of cranberry, some that we purchased earlier, and helped add to someone's Thanksgiving meal.  That'll be nice.

One of the things that Daddy was doing, along with this Dr. Seuss writing, is making a lesson plan for tomorrow night's small group.  I'm rather proud of this one, and think it should be fun, and that's where we'll leave things for tonight.  Here it is, a continuation of this weekend's theme about not bullying people (and thinking more of yourself), but it's also got a very specific October theme to it, which should be a lot of fun!
