A decade later, here we are, once again talking about how time flies by so fast. It does in fact seem like a really long time ago that we first got Madison's picture in an email. It arrived ten years ago today, a day we remember really well. Of course, it's Ye-Ye's birthday today, something we celebrated early with a phone call first thing in the morning before school. We don't think he was out of bed yet! But he got a great birthday present ten years ago today, when we left that picture above on his car windshield. He and Nana were at the movies, watching something - probably Iron Man or Indiana Jones. We left that and a note.
I remember that day well because earlier on we got the message in the family group board. It was a board set up for all the families with our log-in date. We thought we were going to get the email and phone calls on Monday, and it was Friday. The mothers were talking on the message board, mostly talking about crushes when they were younger - David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman. But then someone got the call, and then the rest of us knew that we were all going to get the call. I phone Mommy right away and told her to get home as soon as possible! The call was coming.
She did, and she got there right in time. She couldn't wait to tell Daddy all the statistics: height, weight, likes and dislikes. It wasn't a big list, and like a movie teaser, we were insatiable about finding out what we could next. Daddy wrote down the time of the call, and Mommy got to work right away. Very little was accomplished that day in the office. We literally sat there refreshing the email over and over again, hoping that next time an email would show up with our information on it. The information came later in the afternoon - much later. But it was life-changing. The pictures above were included, as well as the location of the orphanage and more. We were going to China.
This morning, we relived a little bit of that day. Daddy journaled it, and read it out loud for Mommy and Madison before school. It was the beginning of a happily ever after, that much is certain. Ten years later, we're still living a happy dream.
Today was a school day, of course. Madison had her creative lettering class again today after school. you can just barely see her in this picture the teacher took and posted on a social network.
She's liking the class a lot. Of course, she likes anything taught by Mrs. Hubbard. The other art news of the day is that Madison will have another piece of art hanging at the North Forsyth Hospital soon. There's a reception, but it is on a Wednesday night, and we can't go because of church. But we'll drop by to see it over the weekend.
We had KidPak tonight, but Daddy was home for a bit to eat some tikka masala and read a bit from "A Series of Unfortunate Events." We had our family time today, although it's always a bit tight on the schedule due to the service at night. But it was nice, nonetheless. We've really been living a happily ever after.
