Field Day 2018

There was a 100% chance of rain today, and it was Field Day, rain or shine.  Things looked bleak last night, especially after some of the most fierce downpours of the year.  Yet something amazing happened:  it didn't rain at all.  Sure, there may have been rain somewhere in North Georgia.  But at Chestatee Elementary School, there was no rain at all, and in fact it was cloudy and really pleasant.  The sum of it all is that Madison had a great time at her last Field Day at Chestatee.

These pictures were sent to us by a parent volunteer, while Daddy was at work, and Mommy was at home.  You can see above one of Madison's favorite events, where they spun around in circles with their heads touching a baseball bat. Three or four spins, and then a dizzy race across the grass.  Madison won the race, she said.  I believe the other kid fell down, as you can see!

Anyway, it was a fun day.  You can see Madison against the wall above, and the inflatables in the gym, just in case of rain.  Again, it didn't rain at all, which was wonderful for the kids.

Daddy was working on the new series starting this weekend, and Mommy was prepping the house for Nana and Ba-Ba's arrival, which was tonight.

It was great to see them again!  It was quite a drive, and they're pretty much here to see Madison's ballet recital upcoming.  They drove halfway on Thursday, and the other half of the journey today.  It's just too big of a drive to do it all at once.  But they got here, and they were well-rested, and we spent a lot of time talking and catching up.  It was good to see them!

There was more bad news at another school today in Texas.  The very nature of schools are going to change soon, with security getting tighter and tighter.  It's just a new work we live in, but our hearts were broken again.

We said our prayers tonight, praying for those who were hurting.  But we were also thanking God for such favor with the weather so that the kids could properly enjoy their Field Day.  The theme was "A Little Dirt Won't Hurt," and we were afraid that was going to be more literal than previously expected!  But it was good, and it was great that Nana and Ba-Ba had favor getting here safely.  Tonight saying prayers, we had a lot more to be grateful for.

We read from the devotional, and then the last part of "The Reptile Room."  Earlier, Daddy put a hold on the next book in the series, so we'll probably go the library to pick that up tomorrow.  We're moving along to book three, so perhaps it won't take so long to go through all thirteen.

Also, we were getting things together for Madison's birthday party.  We've been passing out a few invitations, and getting the plates and napkins and so forth.  Madison is pretty close to picking out the painting she'd like everyone to try, and things are looking fun there.  She'll be twelve soon.  Crazy to think about!
