SX25 Day 1

 

 

Summer Xtreme 2025 is here, and as you would expect, it was an insanely full day.  You might not have expected a big pink dinosaur out there greeting, but there I was - it was very hot in that direct sunlight.  That's why we had the kids do the inflatables and carnival rides in the morning today, and then afterwards we had our indoor service, which went really well.  

Our first skit was a huge success.  Maddie was back on stage, her character's name is Moodswing.

Mom did a great job with these costumes.  Forester and Moodswing were already done, as Moodswing's costume is pretty much the Scarlet Witch, which we used at Halloween a few years ago.  Firestar's costume, not seen above, has been around for a while.  We'll try to take pictures tomorrow, but this is all the staff photographers got of our skit today, these two pictures.  Staff photographers didn't get much today, so we'll try again tomorrow.  Anyway, Mom did a great job with the costuming, and the actors were just spot on.  We had eight characters, nine if you include me as the Vice Principal's voice.  Maddie delivered her lines perfectly, and the audience was really into it.  Some older ones even recognized the theming of the skit, saying it had "Sky High" vibes.  And that's what I was going for, with a few direct homages to it, as if this school they're in is perhaps really the one featured in "Sky High."

The rest of the day went very well.  The kids enjoyed the time out there with the carnival we had set up in the parking lot, with rides and inflatables out there to enjoy.  It was just a super solid day and very exciting.

Can you believe that Maddie had taekwondo testing tonight?  It was the first time I've ever missed a testing cycle.  Maddie, Nate, and all the others were there for testing, and everyone did well.  Maddie is on her way to getting that third degree belt!  Too bad we missed the testing this time, but she did well breaking boards and in other parts of the testing.

So tonight is a quiet night.  I'm having brutal jaw pain again, and will try some heavy medication tonight to sleep.  We did do some reading tonight, and we said our prayers afterwards.  It'll be a busy week, but it's been really good.
