Today is Martin Luther King Day, and Maddie had off of school - and here's a bit of prophecy - she'll have off of school tomorrow too. The reason for tomorrow is the sudden shift in temperature that happened tonight. There are no nicknames for this, like "Polar Vortex." It's just "BITTER COLD." And yes, the temperature is going to be in the teens with a windchill factor kicking in that will make it feel like single digits.
We spent a good part of the day still cleaning up inside, although the big outing for all three of us was a trip to the chiropractor. It was a day for other people to have off, so that meant things were busy there at Doc Williams' place. But we got it without waiting too terribly long, and it's always great to be there catching up and getting a bit adjusted. We needed that adjustment after the crazy Christmas season we just had.
We did go straight home after this - no sense in going out to eat if we're on a fast. Mom heated up some food for us, and we went straight back to work for a bit, vacuuming and hanging up tapestries and moving furniture in place, getting webs off the ceiling and bookshelves... just a good bit of housecleaning.
Maddie had taekwondo at five tonight, so I went over with her for that to the studio. She was in leadership class and then her regular black belt class. They were fun - everyone's back, and ready to have a good year. The classes are getting full again, and that's pretty great for the instructors. Maddie did well sparring and helping others.
We got home, and we have a bit of a routine now with programming, watching "The Chosen," and then "Monk," and then an episode of "Napoleon Dynamite." We were going to do a movie, but this works. Tonight we were so into "The Chosen" that we watched two episodes back-to-back. It's really a great show - Maddie loves it.
The plush entourage was on my bed, ready to hear more from "The Shepherd's Crown" when I got up there. Maddie joined everyone, and we read for a good bit tonight. We said our prayers, and kept an eye on news reports about the weather. There wasn't supposed to be much in the way of precipitation, but things seem to be shifting. We'll see what happens in the morning!
