Life Day 2021

Where's the Wookie?  That's the game idea that Mom came up with for tonight's small group, and so I went with that because today is Life Day for Star Wars fans, a celebration for Wookies from Kashyyyk, their home planet.

Maddie had her small group tonight, and the girls were back for a message and for a game too.  We had our inaugural lighting of the Star Wars tree today, because why not?  We've had it ready first, but haven't lit it up until now, at least not in a constant state of being lit.

It's always a nice tree, and you can see the tree skirt that Mom made a few years ago, looking perfect down there at the bottom with the Star Wars patterns upon it.  Just because it's Life Day, here are a few completely random pictures of ornaments hanging on that Star Wars tree:

And the tree topper, of course.  It's a star.  A Death Star.  I love the fact that we have so many Star Wars ornaments that we can fill an entire Christmas tree.  And the thing is, we'll probably add more as time goes by.  In fact, we got another Baby Yoda ornament last year, the third Grogu ornament that goes on our tree.

To celebrate further, we were watching the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special tonight, and that Boba Fett cartoon called "The Faithful Wookie" as well.  Of course, that particular cartoon was first shown on this very date many years ago, on the first Life Day, back in 1978.  Seems like only yesterday.  Okay, I'm kidding.  That one actually seems like a long time ago.  I remember it barely, and that might be a good thing, as we all remember the quality of the Star Wars Holiday Special.  The cartoon, of course, is the best part of the entire thing, and I'm glad we could sit and at least watch that.  The rest is just about unwatchable.

Today was a good day, as we made some progress with the Christmas production, at least in regards to writing and costuming.  I finished up the writing portion, and we got a few things settled with costuming.  We may have everything ordered, or at least figured out with certainty by the end of the week, and that's one thing I like:  boxes checked and things done.  There are so many things left to be done.  We'll get there.

It was a nice day outside too, and I believe we'll have another one tomorrow as far as temperature and so forth goes.  Nana wasn't feeling great today, so a good bit of that was spent inside.  But Mom was working hard towards the Christmas production, joining us with online video conference calls or working on her own with various projects.  A lot is going on, and we're still filling the calendar.

Tonight we read from Kingdom Keepers, and we're meeting up with Wayne again at Club 33.  The story is moving along, and there's talk of this being the final adventure.  Of course, it's not.  It may have been thought to be at the time, but we know there are more to come.  Still, there's some sense of sentimentality here, and a bit of reflection at how far we've come with this book series.  We're on book seven, and it's taken up a good bit of our reading time.  I think we started in March or April on these books, and with at least four to go after this one, and maybe a new one out after that, we may be looking at reading this series for over a year now.  Maddie's grown attached to the characters quite a bit.

We said our prayers after that, and then we were asleep soon enough.  It was a productive day, and that made it a good day, getting some of the pressure and weight off these shoulders.  We're moving forward in the season and there's still plenty to do though!
