We started out the year building stuff. It was a day to put together Norwegian papercraft items, like the Stave Church and Viking ships. These are reasonably big too, and will look great in the display case. Madison and Daddy tackled these slowly but surely, as Mommy began the process of taking various Christmas items down, packing certain ones up. By month's end, we should have it all cleared out!
Madison did some piano on the first day of the year, and we also did some reading too. This morning, we slept in mightily, having made it to midnight last night. I don't recall what time we woke up, but we woke up together, and got busy the moment we went downstairs. Daddy got a hair cut, which is a tradition for Chinese New Year, but the fact is that he just plain needed one today. Mommy has been expertly cutting his hair for sixteen years or so, one bill we don't have to pay each time. The only place I get my hair cut outside of home is at the Magic Kingdom barber shop, where I've had my hair cut a few times.
We are still playing with all the toys. There are the Monster High dolls in their huge palatial estate, but there are also Disney Princesses and their pets too. We hung up the new calendars today - Madison's too. She got a new Weeki Wachee Mermaid Calendar, which is currently hanging on the wall. Madison is very diligent about checking off each day, and writing major events on upcoming days as well. She sat alongside Mommy as the two recorded on their calendars various days upcoming, like Ba-Ba's birthday on January 8th.
And yes, there was Disney Infinity 2.0. What a concept to have a team-up of Tinkerbell and Drax the Destroyer! Daddy and Madison played this game for probably a little too long, but that's the theme of winter break, after Christmas. We get all these toys to play with and it is all so new and fun!
We went nowhere today, which is just fine. We traditionally go over to Nana and Ye-Ye's house, but today they were traveling to some friends' house, accepting an invitation for dinner. So we stayed at home. We didn't watch the Rose Parade, as we don't watch that anymore after last year. And that's just fine - we're running around so much lately that these days to stay at home and recover are just fine.
So that was our first day of 2015, not so much of a grand entrance, but a nice one nonetheless. We did a bit of work, we did a bit of lounging, and we spent our time together. Not bad at all!
