iMadison

Madison plugged in an iPod for the first time and was delighted: it was "When You Wish Upon a Star," and her eyes were wide open! How can music come out of that tiny little box? Mommy and Daddy smiled: by the time she gets older, this iPod technology will be so outdated.

I don't think it will be as outdated as what we used to listen to ourselves. Both Mommy and Daddy remember listening to records on record players growing up. In fact, the other day, Daddy picked up a storybook with a record: it was the a Disney story of "The Three Little Pigs." Chimes play on the record when it is time to turn the page in the book. Fortunately, Daddy has a record player in the living room, so we'll have to try that one out just for old time's sake! SEE the pictures! HEAR the record! READ the book! Whoa, that's such modern technology there! I'm glad I have a record player, because it's fun. We still collect records from time to time - it's nothing huge, but more of a novelty thing. For one, I'd love Madison to experience what it is that Mommy and Daddy got to have growing up. Can you believe we actually had to turn records over to hear the other side? I'd complain, but I'm sure you'd think I sounded like a broken record.

MADISON'S BOOK CLUB
This morning, Madison wanted to read this book again - it's a nice one called "A Night the Stars Danced for Joy." Madison is attracted to the artwork, which fills the page and is actually very good. This is one of those stories that is best read in December, as it is all about some shepherds who are visited by the angels, who go on to tell them where they can find the baby Jesus. Because it is such an important story, Daddy doesn't mind reading it to her whenever she wants - and lately that has been every day. She picks this one out first, and together we read through it until we get to the pages with the baby Jesus. For good measure, I ask Madison what the baby's name is, and she says, "Jesus." Like I said, I'll read this one to her as long as she wants!

Tonight we pulled out the popcorn again and because our trip to Disney is coming up very soon, we plugged in "Beauty and the Beast" for the first time with Madison. She's seen the Christmas movie with Belle and really likes her - each time Madison sees her, she calls out, "Belle!" In fact, her pull-ups have a picture of Belle on the front. Soon, Madison will get to meet Belle, but until then, tonight's movie was just fine: she loved it. She was staring intently at the screen for the entire experience. Mommy and Daddy sat on either side of the bed with her, the three of us busily munching on popcorn as we watched the special edition. We really liked this movie when it came out - we had all the words to the songs memorized. I remember buying the soundtrack on CD the weekend it came out.

I didn't get it on a record though!
