Call of Duty

It's time to answer the Call of Duty! Madison is shown here, taking a break from a few of the drills that she and her crackpot squad of artillery aces have been undergoing as of late. She's gotten pretty good with the team, and she's feeling rather patriotic too.

Here she is below, standing on board our very own tank. As you can tell, the thing just busted through a wall - and I'm not sure who is going to pay for all that. But we'll leave it there all month long, and it makes for a nice photo. We asked Madison to salute, and she did just that:

We started our series off with a bang this morning, and the kids just loved it. We had a very big cast, and everyone did wonderfully, especially the Sergeant. Whenever he says anything, you'd better answer, "Sir, yes sir!"

If only that worked on Madison all the time! You can see above our cast for this series, along with Madison (who is holding a Tub of Soldiers). The set is fantastic, as are all the videos that go along with this series. It was a huge effort by everyone, and the children and visitors loved it. Madison had a good time too!

This afternoon, we snuck over to Ye-Ye's house: it was his birthday! We'll be officially celebrating with the family next weekend, but today Zena made him a coconut cream pie, which we brought over and put a candle into. We all sang "Happy Birthday," Madison too. When it was done, she told Ye-Ye: "Blow!"

It was nice to go over and just take a little break. The temperature was so hot outside, and it was good to just hang around inside and talk a little. Afterwards, Daddy and Madison went down to the park a little. Madison has this tricycle that can be pushed from behind - and it has a canopy over top. It's a deluxe Disney Princess tricycle really, but that's not the point: the point is that she steered that thing correctly all the way down to the lakeside park as Daddy pushed from behind. It was a nice little walk this afternoon down to the lake: the water was very choppy, and the winds and waves were very high, so we stood a while along the shore and watched as sail boats and jet skis made their way across the surface.

Tonight, Ba-Ba and Nana arrived from Florida. It was a long drive, but everyone's spirits were lifted as they got here - along with their dog, Velcro. We had spaghetti dinner together, and did a bit of catching up. Speaking of "catching up," tonight we're getting to bed a little early: got some sleep to catch up on!

At ease, soldiers!
