Hey! It's March!

Today is St. David's Day, a Welsh holiday that we tend to celebrate with daffodils and leeks, although it was rather busy today with school and FCY tonight, and with Uncle George visiting.  He and Mom went to go see Nana today, one of two visits this week.  It was another visit where they took Nana off the campus there and down to get something to eat, which she didn't so much, and to shop around at Goodwill, which she was okay with.  It was a disorienting trip for her, as when she arrived back to her place, she wasn't quite sure if that was where she lived or where else she was going.  Things settled down when she saw her room again.  But things are clearly a little off at the moment, and it's a vicious circle in regards to her eating - a lack of eating actually doesn't help her memory issues at all, and in fact hurts them, and meanwhile that same issue causes her not to want to eat any more as well.

Anyway, it was a tough day at work - lots going on there.  We did get some leeks, as leek soup has really grown on me.  It was neat watching Mom chop them all up and get that ready for soup.  They're a bit gritty so you have to rinse them a good bit.  As for daffodils, our schedule isn't working out for this quite yet, but Mom is really wanting to check out this garden nearby which apparently has the largest daffodil collection in the Southeast.

Josh opened the door to my office, interrupting a meeting there and suddenly blurting out, "Hey!  It's March!"  Maddie thought that was funny.  We had all kinds of meetings today, discussing Easter, this weekend's service, Summer Xtreme and other things.  I also taught my last class for the college kids today, even writing a mini-skit for them to perform, a mad-lib that turned out pretty fun for them all.  The students had a great time.  The other thing I'm writing seems to be going well too - I'm writing about four or five ads for a Hall of Fame baseball player to say on the radio during baseball games.  So it's busy, but there's still so much to do that it sort of gets still a little burdened at times.  Stressed out.  I came home a bit stressed, so it was great to see Mom holding a gift for me:  a vinyl record of the Talking Heads' "Little Creatures."

The significance of this is that we just visited Howard Finster's Paradise Gardens last week, and that's the artist that did the artwork for this album cover.  And the interior too!  I can't wait to listen to it also, as there are a few songs on there that I already know.

After FCY tonight, we made absolute sure we saw the premiere episode of "The Mandalorian,"starting off season three of this epic series.  It's off to a great start, setting up some story lines that promise to be very intriguing.  The four of us sat there and watched the show, even though it was a bit later on, just because we couldn't wait to see it.

We didn't have much time to read tonight because of the late hour, but we did pray of course.  March is here, and we're okay with that.
