Jingle Nerd

Jingle decided to be a nerd this morning, and that was super fun.  He even brought along a box of Nerds candy with him.  I think the expression is "you are what you eat!"

It was a pretty busy day today, but we got a lot done.  First, we filled out the final Christmas cards and sent them off at the post office.  It takes a while to fill all those out, but we got the ol' address book out, signed the cards, put Maddie's school picture in there and then filled out the address on the envelope.  There were about fifty of these, and there'll be a few more to send by the holidays' end, but we got the bulk of them out.

Maddie finished her tree in her room, which means we have four completed Christmas trees in the house now, and that's a big accomplishment too.  Trees are popping up everywhere.  In fact, here's the picture of the Christmas Tree at East Forsyth High School:

Festive!

It was pouring rain all day, but Nana and I set out to the post office to deliver the cards, and then get back in time to take Maddie out to taekwondo.  We watched her for a while - she's inching closer and closer to her second degree black belt.  Testing is next week, although I don't know if I'm going to make that due to Christmas play practice.  I won't miss her second degree black belt testing though - that should be somewhere in the middle of the year next year.

We stopped by the grocery store before going home, and we picked up the usual lot of groceries, plus a thing or two.  Maddie spotted this little guy in the seasonal gifts aisle, so we had some fun with him:

So Uncle George and Maddie's cousin Brandon came here today, driving down through all this miserable weather from Ohio.  They'll be here until Friday, but it was a long drive as you would think.  We sat and talked for a bit, and did some catching up, and then Mom made us put our boots out at the fireplace, resting them there in case St. Nicholas comes tonight.  That's right, tomorrow is St. Nicholas Day, and we're hoping those boots and shoes will be filled with candy.  Of course, the other side of it is hoping Krampus doesn't come tonight - we were showing Brandon a few of those Krampus parades in Austria online, much to his amused horror.  We're not worried, of course.

Anyway, it was a good day, and we closed it out with reading, and then of course saying our prayers.  It's time for bed, and another long winter's evening, listening to the rain pour down outside all night long.
