Advent Calendars!

Yes, he's back!  Jingle and Snowflake apparently mailed themselves back to the house for December, and if you think you could escape the festive holiday spirit this year, you're sadly mistaken!  This morning, we awoke to find six - yes, six - different advent calendars in the house!

This is the first, one for Maddie.  It's a Marvel themed Funko Pop calendar, where every day there's a Marvel character within for Maddie to discover!

This is one that Maddie got me!  Every day is a new pair of Star Wars socks!  I'm wearing a pair that says "May the force be with you."  Pretty great stuff!  Maddie picked this up for me the other day when she was shopping with Nana, and she surprised me with it this morning.

Meanwhile, here's another advent calendar, one that has a different hot sauce each day!  As Maddie is a connoisseur of spicy sauces, this little daily treat will be great to start sampling.  Will she wait until day #25 and try them all?  We'll see!

Okay, this one in the back is an advent calendar that goes back, back, back all the way to the beginning of our advent calendar tradition.  We already had three others for Maddie, but this chocolate one?  It's tradition!  Maddie gets a little bit of chocolate each morning, which is no problem.  You can see this calendar in front of the ginger bread house Maddie made a few days ago here.

Speaking of chocolate, here's the advent calendar for Nana, one that gives a piece of chocolate each day leading up to Christmas.  Yes, that'll be nice!  And finally, one more advent calendar:

The LEGO Star Wars Calendar is a yearly tradition that goes back a long time, and Maddie now has a huge collection of small LEGO Star Wars figures, one for each day of December before Christmas.  And we've got several years worth of these now... Maddie's childhood there!  It's a tradition to put together a small ship, location, or a figure each day in December every year, and we were glad to continue this tradition again.  Wow, what a morning each morning - so many little gifts and trinkets!

Okay, today was a busy day.  We're working towards Narnia this weekend, and there was taekwondo tonight of course.  It's cold outside.  We were hanging snowflakes at KidPak, decorating and getting all the trees ready too.  It's going to look nice on Sunday.

tonight, Maddie had small groups, although Camille was away for this one.  Maddie still enjoyed hanging out with everyone, sharing and listening to the group.  Afterwards, we were watching Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas, mainly because Mom made barbecue for dinner, and every time we have barbecue, we start singing about a "mess of mamma's barbecue!"

We read tonight, and we said our prayers after that.  it was a good day, the start of December.  Christmastime is here, ready or not!
