Glow Night

It was Glow Night at FCY tonight, so all the kids were wearing florescent gear to shine brighter with the dark lighting that was set up.  But there were other things as well, of course, with handouts that glowed various colors, including a combat stick that blinked many colors as Maddie hit me on the head with it!  There was also ice cream tonight, which is never a bad thing.  The ice cream truck was there, and it was all paid for, and that was pretty awesome.  I remember coming up with that idea years ago for the ice cream truck to come to the church - it's almost a magical sort of thing seeing the ice cream truck come by and hearing its music.  I really don't have any choice when I hear that siren's song!

Anyway, it was a fun night for Maddie.  It was pouring rain tonight, probably the most rain we've seen so far, and it's been a consistently rainy season lately.  But tonight was such a rainfall that driving was pretty nerve-wracking.  I had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel once I safely arrived home, but collectively, all the cars out there were going about 25-30 mph, just because visibility was so poor, as sheets, buckets, and swimming pools filled with rain plummeted down from above.  It was crazy - we've had such a wet season.

We've had a good day today, despite the lack of a car situation ongoing.  We're still renting our California car and driving it around, but we got a few pieces of the process moving to get the other car in our driveway moving again.  Tomorrow we need to do the emissions test, and then the registration and a new license plate... and we'll have another driving option, at least for now.

Tonight we got to bed earlier, as it was a long day.  But it was a good one.  We read about the trouble that Constance is sensing, some dire events affecting the Mysterious Benedict Society.  And after that, we prayed, and brought the plush menagerie back to Maddie's room where everyone was tucked in and of course the subsequent reminders that "you stink."  Sweet dreams, smell-fest.
