Reuben 625

So let's begin by saying that Mom makes the best sandwiches.  She packs these lunches that are so good, it's clear she has a black belt in sandwich making.  I was recently eating a sandwich she packed for lunch, and we were all talking about how good Mom is, which led to the inevitable topic of Rueben, experiment 625 from the "Lilo and Stitch" stories.  He's got all the skills and abilities of a creature of mass destruction, but he doesn't want any of that.  Instead, he wants to make sandwiches, and of course he makes them really, really well.  We were talking about this, and suddenly someone remembered an old online sandwich-making game that features Rueben.  Ingredients fall from above, and you have to catch the good ones while avoiding the bad ones.  Yes, we got sucked into this right away, and in the end, it came down to Camille vs. myself.  It was super, super close.  But in the end, Camille came out the victor, while Rueben was not so happy with my efforts:

Ah, the good old days when we'd all watch Lilo and Stitch over and over again, and Maddie would rise up during certain songs and spontaneously do the hula in front of the television screen.  Fortunately, she's not so grown-up as to avoid old friends like Reuben here.

Anyway, it was Saturday today.  Maddie's online games with us all are still Wordle and Phoodle and sometimes other ones too.  We didn't have Team Edge today, but that will start becoming more frequent as we start getting closer to tournaments and things like that.  We recently got some schedules about that, and March of next year we might find ourselves in Texas, of all places.  But that's further down the road.  There are a lot of practices that are between now and then.

We're still dealing with the lack of a car, although we can drive around this rental for a bit longer.  The other insurance company is letting us keep this one for about another week.  We were over there at the rental place, and that's right next to this Goodwill that has a whole lot of vinyl records donated recently.  I got at least twenty-five records recently, including old ones from the Partridge Family, Bobby Sherman, Shaun Cassidy, the Platters, movie soundtracks, Hawaiian music, and so many other items.  We picked up a few other things there, but the vinyl records were pretty awesome.

Maddie has been studying this weekend, although it's been a tougher class she's studying - World History. It's World story in Asia, going back some time.  It's probably her most challenging course right now, which of course is ironic given her heritage.  But she's giving it a try.

We've had rain a lot this summer.  So much rain.  Once upon a time I was wondering if we'd get any rain, but sure enough, we've had lots of it.  We've been watching television indoors, catching "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and wrapping up season one fairly quickly.  A lot of the overall story is coming back to us as we watch - it's a good series.

There is church tomorrow, so we did get to bed at a reasonable hour.  Maddie mixes up our Rubik's cubes, and brings her plush menagerie down the hall to hear the latest part of the story, and then it's time for bed shortly after that.  We went to bed after prayers, all of us including Chuck, Putnam, and Wong.
