Where the Mountain Meets the Moon

We've been reading this book each night, and yes, we've read the other two books of this series, just in the wrong order.  It's okay, as these aren't told in any specific order, or at least I don't think they are.  I can't remember at this point - it's been over a year since we've last read one of the other books. There are three total, and we're finally getting to the first of the series, and it's been a good read.

Of course, we read our devotional too, and that's a good read as well.  Every entry is about trains, which ties things to our "All Aboard" series.  After prayer and zerberts, it's time for sleep.

Daddy got home later tonight, as we had Wednesday night service.  We did a special tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King tonight.  I did a lot of research leading up to this, and told just a few stories that had the kids completely focused.  They had no idea, and honestly, neither did I.  There were a few specifics and quotes from his letters that were very moving.  We did a few illustrations, and had a great night in class.

Daddy also led noon prayer at the chapel, this for the entire church as those who want to gathered there as a part of the fasting and prayer.  It went well, and made for a pretty full day, especially with the meeting that took place afterwards.  We have a lot going on, and some of it is very bittersweet.  Change is one of those things that happens, and there are some very big changes coming up.

Madison is learning about perspective at school, creating two points and drawing lines to those fixed points to set up a more three dimensional drawing.  She was practicing that a bit tonight as well.  She's also taking pictures in class of objects from multiple angles.  Her other assignments are related to finding the area of three dimensional objects now, plus a look at certain types of eggs of different animals.  She hasn't had as much homework so far, but she did get a 100 on a social studies test.  No word on the math test yet, but she does feel like she did pretty good on that one.

The weather outside is gorgeous.  It feels like spring, and even so at night.  It's so remarkably pleasant.  It's just been unusual weather so far in 2020.

Speaking of unusual, they finally delivered the impeachment paperwork to the Senate, where presumably this whole process will now die.  It's supposed to be a trial, and that implies that there are impartial people there.  Estimates are that out of the 100 US Senators there are approximately three that may be impartial.  That being said, it's already decided, this before the case is even made.  There wasn't really any evidence delivered, so there's not much to be decided on anyway.  That is, unless they call new witnesses.  But from what I understand, that's not the job of the Senate?  Anyway, there's a bit of a debate about that.  Either way, it's supposed to be over with in about two or three weeks, so we can finally move on to yelling at each other about something else other than this.  But for now, everyone will be doing this thing here, which is more about grandstanding and getting television time and doing the election thing.  Hopefully we can move on soon.  I for one am sort of weary from it all.

Speaking of which... goodnight!
