Madison has been working on captions and more interviews for journalism, which seems like a fun class, actually. She's taking pictures, and doing well there. Speaking of which, we're hoping she'll do well with the next math quiz, something Daddy is bribing her with - if she gets an A, she gets this new album from Shawn Mendes. We'll let you know how that goes tomorrow, I think. She's studying for the test tonight. Of course, she's also been doing taekwondo tonight as well. They were using combat sticks again, a favorite of all the kids. But here she is again with another stripe - it's her second stripe already, which means next stop is the official ceremony where she'll get blue belt decided. It's not a change of belt color, but it is a significant step towards that next belt, presumably in December. We'll see!
It was a day for hot weather, and yard work - there's new mulch in the yard, and the plants are looking great, despite the fact that we've lacked a good rain for awhile. We're out there watering things a lot, just to get them to "take," and adding new mulch to help retain the moisture a bit. There was a lot more clearing going on today, thanks to Ye-Ye and Nana's efforts, and it's all coming together nicely outside. Meanwhile, Madison is doing the chicken run game in PE, and Daddy is writing the scripts - we'll post that in a bit.
In the meantime, Ba-Ba's upcoming trajectory is as we suspected: six weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. It's like what Mommy had, but just for six weeks. There needs to be a port "installed," and then there'll be one visit per week for chemotherapy, and five visits per week for radiation treatment. After that, the decision is made about the surgery - hopefully the cancer is gone by then, or it's small enough that it can be easily removed surgically. We'll have to wait and see. But it will be something that will shape our fall season upcoming. We're ready to move at a moment's notice to support Ba-Ba, and encourage him wherever we can. Mommy went through this in 2006, and got through just fine. It took a while, and it was tough. But this treatment is shorter, and Ba-Ba is in good health. Hopefully we'll be looking at a good prognosis very soon. We'll keep praying though. That's what we did tonight, as well as reading and all the other nightly rituals. Madison knows what Ba-Ba is going through, and will be ready to encourage and talk with him - we've got to help him through this.
