Haunted Mansion Toothpick Dispenser

Ah, look what Daddy finished!  Last year's paper craft project was just fun enough to try another, although this one was remarkably less trouble to put together.  On and off over the last few days, Daddy was working on a Haunted Mansion Toothpick Dispenser!  Yes, it actually works!  You turn a knob, and the little hand and trowel move, and out rolls a toothpick!

It seems like a lot of trouble to get a toothpick, but it was a fun build.

Today Madison could have used a toothpick with all the food that was available at her journalism deadline party.  We asked her what food was there - all the students brought different things, and so Madison went on a list of the things that were there.  The party was to celebrate the first deadline met.  Madison was working on different parts of the yearbook this year so far, writing copy and verbiage to talk about pictures and events that happened throughout the year thus far.

It wasn't all parties though - Madison had a few tests today, including the beginning of a math summative and a social studies summative.  The math test result continues tomorrow, but her grade on Southwest Asia is a 96.  These summatives carry a lot of weight, so that was a great moment.  She had this other summative with math that continued today, and there's also a ELA test as well, one pushed off until Monday.

Another event of the day - busy one - was school photos.  It was school photo day, and these days, parents go online and place the orders ahead of time.  We've ordered pictures for the grandparents and ourselves - you'll see them here soon enough, I'm sure.  She said they should turn out okay.  She spent a while considering what to wear last night, along with the studying of course.  It all turned out well today.

Considerably further south from us, Ba-Ba had his surgery today, having a port put in so that he could begin his chemotherapy.  There's a doctor appointment or two coming up next week, and we're assuming that the actual treatments will be starting soon.  We'll want to be ready for that.

Tonight, Madison watched the 2016 Ghostbusters movie, which all agreed may not have been as good as the first one, but was still a fun movie.  We had the popcorn ready and got together on the couch before bedtime.  And afterwards, it was time for the bedtime routine, reading devotionals, "The Last Command," praying for Ba-Ba, and zerberts.

"Goodnight Jar-Jar Stinks!"
