We started early again with another visit to Rank Camp, day two. All the kids like to arrive a little early to meet up and talk before the big day of training. Today, they continued their self-defense training, learning some more Krav Maga evasive maneuvers. If you're new to Krav Maga, don't worry. So are we! Apparently, it has nothing to do with "making America great again," but instead is Hebrew for "combat contact." For example, today Madison was learning how to break out of a choke hold from behind. She demonstrated for Daddy this afternoon, rather effectively breaking out of his puny grip. Of course, Daddy wasn't really trying to grab Madison's neck from behind. But Madison's partner in training this week was probably a little more firm, and therefore Madison got to put her training into action.
Furthermore, she was doing some more roundhouse kicks, breaking boards, as well as a bit of evasive maneuvering. Part of a combo involves evasion, and then kicks and follow up strikes. To help the kids with evading, the leaders were having fun throwing dodge balls and snowballs at the kids. Madison had a great time today.
It was so great that she actually returned for her scheduled class tonight. Part of the reason for her return is a desire to have enough classes in by the end of July. If she has enough classes added up by the end of July, she'll qualify for that blue belt. As a reminder, this rank camp here will advance her to the status of "purple belt decided." She really wants that blue belt this summer, going so far as to look at her calendar, counting out the correct amount of classes she'd need to get there.
She was resting her eyes between all that taekwondo today, taking a short nap in the car even. And when we got home, we had time for just one episode of "Gravity Falls," followed by some reading before bed. We started on the book "Science Fair" tonight, which is already a big hit with the girls. Daddy read this probably ten years ago, and it's a gem.
We said our prayers, and were off to bed early tonight. Early mornings this week make for early nights. Daddy's been working on SX19 a lot today, and this new "Tribes" series as well. Plus, drinking a new and delicious soda with an apple pie flavor. Yes, it's true! It was quite tasty!
Anyway we had a good day today, and quite a full one as we gear up for the event of the summer now in less than one week...
