We were off to the Mexican ice cream place to have some "Summer Xtreme ice cream" a little early this time. But it was still delicious! Everyone was working hard today throughout the office, including Madison, who put books and pencils out in every chair in the auditorium. She was also helping Mommy do a lot of cleaning, including one unique task of testing squirt guns! We've had these squirt guns that don't work, and they all get piled in with the ones that do at the end of the day, and the pile gets larger each year, because there's some that don't work. And no one knows which ones don't work... and well, now that's a bit different.
Meanwhile, Daddy is working on imagery, printed material, and also... a coconut. We went across the street to the grocery store to get that prop, and collected a lot of props from within the church too. Mommy was doing that, as well as dealing with costuming. We'll finish up tomorrow.
In the morning, we start our new series, "Tribes," and the set looks fantastic. It's going to be a great morning, followed by our Summer Xtreme volunteer meeting.
It rained a LOT today, just like it did yesterday, torrential downpours throughout the day. It was cooler and wet, and that was okay. As long as we don't interfere with the outdoor plans for Summer Xtreme, I think we'll be okay.
The wonderful thing about today that we'll remember for a while is that we're sponsoring one of Madison's friends so he can go to Summer Xtreme. It is full, but we made room for him. If you remember what we were praying for on Thursday night's Summer Xtreme meeting, it was about those young boys who don't have fathers in their lives. The very next night, we were with a great-grandmother who is taking care of a young man, because his parents are not in the picture. The grandparents aren't either, apparently. He's in taekwondo with Madison and the others, and we thought this Summer Xtreme would be a great opportunity for him. Today, KidPak sponsored him, taking care of his expenses, and Daddy was on the phone with that great-grandmother. This kid is going to have an unforgettable week!
