Twi'lek

Mommy has created a Twi'lek!  Camille came in, and we were trying a few things out with costuming and make-up, and this is the end result.  We know there are a few things to touch up, but the general idea is in place, and things are lined up for this weekend's service, when the scavengers find someone actually on the planet Hoth, someone left behind when the Rebels were escaping.

Madison got home from school, and we decided to go out for dinner tonight.  We made it to Texas Roadhouse, the three of us, and it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten.  I don't know if I've chronicled these legendary pieces of meat, but sometimes you eat a steak and you remember it the rest of your life.  I don't know if that's just me, but this steak actually ranks at #3 now of all time, possibly #2 to be honest.  #1 was a chateaubriand from the Sundial Restaurant in Atlanta on Valentine's Day.  It was a $75 entry about fifteen years ago, and it was worth every penny.  #2 was a steak I had at an Outback Steakhouse in Athens in the nineties.  And now here we are at #3.  I'm still evaluating the experience, but this was perfection on a plate.  I almost ordered the salmon tonight, and I'm glad I stuck with the steak.  It was that good.

Madison doesn't eat steak.  Not yet anyway.  Mommy and Daddy do, of course.  Otherwise we wouldn't be here.  Madison eats the chicken strips, and needs a healthy does of buffalo sauce, which she also uses for her fries.  It is important to have plenty of sweet tea nearby to douse potential fires.  She drinks down a lot!

After steak, we went to the Oaks mini-golf course to grab an ice cream.  We just like the atmosphere there for an ice cream:  we order three, and then go out on the porch there with the rocking chairs, and just share a nice quite moment - all three of us ordered cherry vanilla, which was delicious.

We got home, and look what Daddy and Madison did:

This is Madison's.  Daddy did one too - we've taken to drawing Marvel characters, and today's was Baby Groot.  Madison drew this one step by step (just like Daddy), following the instructions from a Marvel magazine she had.  We spent a little time together drawing these out, and they both turned out pretty good!

We read from our comics, about Apocalypse actually saving Charles Xavier, and we played round of "Portals 2" as well.  Tonight's movie is a continuation of our "October movies," a selection that Madison chose:  "The Addams Family."  The first time she saw this movie, she was a little bit slower to understand the dark humor.  But this time around, she was laughing out loud at much of it, and quoting the movie afterwards.  Of course, she loves Wednesday Addams.  She kept talking about the movie afterwards, and it was fun to see her "get" the odd humor of it all.

We had a good day today, a great Friday.  We got the solar system back, although we don't know the grade for it yet.  Madison is doing well in school, getting more good grades each day, and we've been really happy to see her do well in middle school.

Tonight at bedtime, Madison did the hide-and-seek thing first.  Then we read more from "The Grim Grotto," and from our devotional.  We said our prayers and made zerberts.  As we said our goodnights, Madison was still talking about Wednesday and Pugsly, and still laughing about the movie.  What a great night!
