Tonight we continued Apefest with "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," the last one we actually saw in theaters. Counting down, this was movie #8 of 9, so we only have one left. We'll probably get to that one this weekend, I think. This one was the movie that featured the topic of forgiveness and peace, and it's a tough situation for the humans, who could have lived in peace - but one unforgiving ape ruined things, and here we are heading for war. That's the next movie, at least.
The main character's name is Caesar, of course, and I'm surprised that Maddie hasn't gone off with her cry of "Hail Caesar!" Every time Caesar's name was mentioned during our "Romans" series, she and Skylar would call out, "Hail Caesar!" Then they would blow on these trumpets in triumph, and it would sound terrible, much to the chagrin of Caesar, who was standing there wishing it would end. They did it a lot, and it was a great running joke throughout the series.
Also tonight, there was war in the taekwondo studio. Okay, not quite war. Let's call it some small skirmishes. Or okay, just sparring. That's what it was. Sparring. But it was fun, and Maddie was there to help instruct as always, although a tiny bit late. We had to sit in traffic as another accident consumed Browns Bridge Road. Fortunately, wee were slightly ahead of this traffic tide and got through before the tsunami of cars created a back-up that was quite a few miles long.
It was a quiet day today, the day before the prom. Maddie is taking off of school tomorrow. It's a big deal the prom. She's looking forward to it so much, and I hope she has a good time. She went to bed late tonight because she knows she can sleep in tomorrow. In her forensics class, the teacher asked how many of his students would be in class tomorrow, and out of all of them the total was one. Not Maddie. There was one total student. Sounds like he's going to have a blast.
We were working on a lot of things today, including curriculum for the rest of the year at KidPak, and FCY, and Discovery, and a little of the preschool too. Lots going on there, and lots of work. Also we were working on the new series. Related, I was able to use AI to create some decent background music for our series, some nice background music to go with the surfing vibe. Fun!
There was some reading tonight, although just half a story. it's a rather odd story about the creature that lives in the trash compactor on the Death Star. It was a little longer, so we divided it up and will finish it tomorrow. It's pretty odd though, and given what we know about the Death Star, we know things won't end up so well.
We ended the evening late, and with prayers, and tucking in the Plush Entourage. Maddie is pretty excited about tomorrow.
