This mop sort of sums up the drive home today. We look for faces in objects sometimes, and this one caught our attention at a rest area on the way home.
It took us nearly eleven hours, which is quite a bit longer than usually. This can be credited to the large amount of rain we encountered on the way home, which was tropical in nature. It was sunny one moment, and then suddenly nobody could see that well, because the downpour was so thick. Standing water, and car accidents too. There was a very bad one on I-10, which shut things down, and we were stuck there for an hour, going about two miles.
Madison, of course, wasn't really stressed about traffic or driving. She was content in the back seat, watching movies like "The Greatest Showman" and "Descendants." She listened to her favorite music, and did some artwork - she's been drawing portraits of people lately, and trying to improve her skills there.
We stopped frequently on the way home, just to sort of rest our minds a little. There was the usually stop in Cordelle at Chick-Fil-A. And another stop at a McDonald's for Madison. And a few rest areas as well. Did you know about the Battle of Brushy Creek? There's a rest stop in Lowndes County that informs us a bit about this one.
It was just a long day, a battle in itself. Not to belittle the battle in 1936 between Indians and Settlers, but this is one of those days where we got home, and didn't take too long to find our happy place in bed once more.
