We woke up early this morning to the relentless sounds of severe weather in the area, a large system of rough thunderstorms rolling from northwest to southeast. Lots of lightning and thunder accompanied this storm, and it sort of woke us all up, despite our best intentions to sleep in for a change. This was the one day, right? Oh well! It still was a good day, although a more relaxed day for certain.
Madison and Daddy headed out to the library to drop off some books and pick up new ones. Madison is quite proficient now at checking out the books all by herself. Just hand her a library card, and she's good to go. She picked up a book for herself, and of course we got the next book in the Unfortunate Event series: "The Hostile Hospital."
Also while we were out, we used our Chick-Fil-A calendar cards to get some free drinks, and then went over to pick up some more red mulch. Daddy was working on the side of the house, weeding away from the air conditioning area there, surrounding it with some mulch and making it look a bit more presentable, even if not many people go back there to see that part. Regardless, the weeding and mulch will help keep large weeds and so forth from creeping into the air conditioning systems out there.
We used some of our Disney Dollars at the Disney Store after that, reserving our copy of "Avengers: Infinity War." We do that there, because you get a set of lithographs with a pre-order. Madison was delighted to see that one of the four lithographs was dedicated to Scarlet Witch.
This is probably Madison's favorite Marvel character, so much so that if there was a Halloween costume for this hero, she'd wear it this fall. She'll get to see Scarlet Witch soon enough, as the new movie comes out very soon.
We still had a bit of work to do on our service tomorrow, which we did, wrapping up background music details and extra slides. But there was also a lot of time spent on Hoth, our go-to planet for "Battlefront II." Madison and Daddy have suddenly taken up the cause of the Rebellion, planting ourselves on these radar cannons in an attempt to pick off approaching Imperials. Madison is also learning how to be a sniper, which makes this father rather proud. On Kamino, there's this special spot where you can hide out, safe from harm (mostly), and the two of us spent a good deal of time sniping off Stormtroopers. Good times!
We thought - briefly - about going somewhere today, off on some adventure in Atlanta or elsewhere. But honestly, we've done a lot of that this summer with these camps, and besides, this weekend we have two plays we're seeing. We have one more little trip upcoming in two weeks, a small expedition we're considering to close out the summer. But art camp is next week, and we were just fine doing a few chores today, and staying close to home. Madison played piano, and did a few more speech exercises, and did a lot of drawing as well. She's very much into that.
Tonight, we finished "The Vile Village," and will be off to the "Hostile Hospital" tomorrow night, moving right along, really. Just like the summer. The crowds out there for back-to-school sales ... it was intense. Lots of folks out there, and we're kind of glad to be spending a little more time in the quiet of home.
