Tonight was our Winter Wonderland celebration, and all the kids in Mrs. Pam's keyboard classes joined together at the Gainesville Civic Center to see a magician named Jeff McClure. He was really good with the kids, and the adults too of course. His sleight of hand was superb, and he had all of us fooled. Best of all, the kids had a great time. After certain tricks, Madison would turn and face us or the girl next to her with a look of amazement.
Here she is after the show, along with one of her classmates. Before the show, there were all kinds of booths set up, with all sorts of simple tricks for the kids to try out as well. This was a bit of chaos, but the kids had a great time and soon everyone was in the main area to see the show.
We can't say enough about Mrs. Pam for putting all this together. The kids all had a great time the entire evening, and again, so did Mommy, Daddy, Nana and Ba-Ba. We got back home around 8:30, but we were all pretty tired, believe it or not. In Daddy's case, this was because of the long day preparing for the new series. Earlier, we were out filming - "storm chasing" in a little car, riding around with small cameras clinging to the insides of the cars. We'll splice that footage in with footage from the movie "Twister," and hopefully it will come out pretty good. Tomorrow, we'll film some more - we still have lots to do before the series launch.
Madison nailed her spelling test again today - those take place each Friday. And we're hoping she did well enough on her math testing. Those blasted subtraction problems have caused a slight delay, but we think she's got it all down by now. We've been drilling her with a kitchen timer, and she's been finishing early enough to go back and check her work. I think it just takes practice, practice, practice. Just like with the piano!
Tomorrow is a big day of more preparation, so we're turning in early for the night. Also, it's time to say goodbye to the grandparents - for now. We'll see them again soon. Already, we're plotting and planning our Spring Break. Very grateful to have a Spring Break at this point - other counties around us lost theirs when they missed so many days of school due to winter weather.
Speaking of which, what a gorgeous day! The weather outside was absolutely perfect, after the rains left us this morning. Not perfect storm chasing conditions, but we're hoping we just talk about that sort of thing in services, and not in reality around her. This weather has been unusual, so hopefully we'll see an unusually pleasant spring. We'll see how that turns out, of course.
Anyway, it's time to turn in, and time to do a magic trick of my own: now you see me...
