Happy Platypus Day, 2014

Here we are on the fourth annual Platypus Day, although this one seems a bit more low key than previous years.  I do believe a new episode of "Phineas and Ferb" premiered today, though we didn't have time to watch it.  What we did have time for, however, you see below:

A few days ago, we picked up Madison a Perry the Platypus shirt - the doll and the hat have been in the house for a while.  But Daddy made up some coloring sheets, and yes, there's a Disney Infinity power disc up there - it's a Dr. Doofenshmirtz "damage-inator," which Madison wanted to pop in right away.  We did have a tiny bit of time for that, but soon it was time for us to get to work:  it was a busy work day, as we were all preparing for tomorrow's big service dedicated to the Sword in the Stone.

Work was fun, as the three of us joined the others at the office to set up for church.  This is our last weekend of the Excalibur series, so the castle will be coming down tomorrow.  In it's place, we'll see a glimpse of the Midwest, I think.  We've tossed around ideas for the new set, so I'm anxious to see it complete, as is most everyone else of course!

We did a little bit of cleaning at the house, and of course piano practice continued.  Tonight, we popped in a movie to watch together - it's been a while since we've done that.  So we popped the popcorn and snuggled under the blankets on the couch together as we watched "Mary Poppins."  That was Madison's choice, probably inspired by the fact that we're going to see a state presentation of that same character in just a few short weeks.  Mommy and Daddy haven't seen it since we've seen "Saving Mr. Banks," so it was interesting to see with the insight gained from that movie.  Beyond that, it really is a magical film.  The music stays with you, and as always, when the last of the chimneysweeps bound off down the street, jumping and twirling, there is this inevitable feeling of bittersweetness.  Sure, there's still kites to fly and a family to restore, but it is such a magical journey throughout that movie, one you wish didn't end.

Madison went to bed a little later tonight, mainly because of the time of the movie:  it's a longer one.  We read the Bible, nearly finishing this latest version.  We also read more comic books, which is now becoming a mandatory tradition.  It's a fun one though!
