Taco Tuesday

Forget "Fat Tuesday."  Today was something even greater:

It was Taco Tuesday today!  We've had tacos before, and on other ordinary days of the week.  But I don't remember having tacos on Tuesday recently, so therefore today was kind of a big deal:  it was Taco Tuesday!

We only think of the phrase "Taco Tuesday" because of the recent movie we watched together, "The Lego Movie."  Ever since that moment, we've been waiting for the alignment of the calendar and the dinner menu, sort of like astronomers wait for the lining up of planets.  Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long - for tonight Mommy had prepared an extensive amount of toppings for us to pile on our tacos.  The five of us had a Mexican feast, celebrating in style a day that rivals Cinco de Mayo - it's Taco Tuesday!

Madison had piano class again today, which was fun although we were a bit off as a class.  I'm not sure if anyone had this week's music down by class.  This is strange, because Madison did well in practice.  We'll have to focus a little more this week, trying these songs again.  Daddy is practicing more, because things are really picking up.  Thank goodness the summer break is coming up:  it's getting more and more challenging.

Speaking of challenging, we got a discouraging test result.  Although in 1st grade, there are no real tests so much.  Madison completely missed the answers on her subtraction efforts.  All those -3 questions... missed.  This is after a lot of practice, where she's getting the answers right.  We can only assume it is the stress of getting all the answers done in less than three minutes.  So we may try to continue her practice with a timer.  Tonight we had her do her regular homework, and then the subtraction problems again.  It worked out once more, as she got every one right.  We'll try it again in a little bit, next time with that timer in place.

Daddy and Madison were spending time reading again tonight before bed, yet another Noah story.  This one was "Little Scraggly Hair," which is a hillbilly version of the Noah story that explains the age-old question:  "Why are dogs' noses wet?"

This is a fantastic story if you read it like a complete redneck.  Which Daddy is quite skilled at.  The end result was an entertaining bit of storytelling that captivated even Mommy.  Both she and Madison sat there in bed, reading the cute story of this dog and a hillbilly named Noah.  Tweren't nothin'!

Daddy is telling stories about Noah's Ark this week in our Bible time - this has been a fun theme to work with.  There's another few books in our collection this week, so we'll keep that going until the weekend.  Don't miss the boat!

We're also still reading comics, and here's where Mommy said goodnight.  Daddy is reading some Ka-Zar comics to Madison, a series of gems illustrated by one of the Kubert brothers.  Madison loves hearing these comics before bedtime, and hearing the Bible.  So much reading each night!

But Daddy and Mommy said goodnight, and off we went to watch another adventure with the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."  It had us wondering if that was a Kree or Ice Giant or ... eh?

The rest of the day was work for Daddy, and some shopping for Mommy, Nana and Ba-Ba.  It's Tuesday (as noted above), which means more than tacos.  It means senior discount at Goodwill, so you just guess where they were off to.  It's fun doing a bit of shopping together, which is just what happened.

So the day was a good one for everyone.  Tomorrow promises to be busy with work, but we had a great day together and in fact, there are a few more fun things scheduled the rest of the week.  You'll see...
