Exhausted Smiles

Long, long day today - but it was the sort of day you look back on with an exhausted smile.  Madison did well today, although the subtraction issues remain.  That stubborn -3 is getting her confused on tests, so our practices keep on going.  We set a table timer up, and put out some practice sheets for her - and now she should be really good to go by the next time we do a subtraction test.  By gum!

Today was tennis, and it was a nice day for Madison because her grandparents came to see her from Florida!  Nana and Ba-Ba are big into tennis, and this was somewhat an idea of theirs to try out tennis.  She liked the game enough, and here she is going to practice once a week.  Nana and Ba-Ba thought she did pretty good, and got to enjoy the practice together with Mommy, seated in the bleachers.

The weather has been cold, as winter still has us in its icy grasp.  Coincidentally, each time the grandparents come up from Florida, the temperature plunges somewhat - just long enough to climb back up the moment they leave.  This weekend is supposed to be nice, in fact.

This weekend is a big one for Free Chapel - we're opening a brand new location/facility in Gwinnett.  It'll be a big deal, and everyone has been scrambling with last-minute preparations this week.  There'll be another KidPak soon, and we're pretty excited about that.

In the meantime, KidPak still goes on here, and that's the big day Daddy had at church.  We started that new series all about Noah, and showed a lot of clips from "Evan Almighty."  It was a really good night, a fun night for all of us.  It just went really well.

But there was a lot of work setting it up, of course, from message contents to capturing clips to soundtracks to all the graphics to ... well, the same-old/same-old.  But the work paid off, as it was a great night for everyone.

The tension in Russia isn't as fresh, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.  Diplomacy doesn't seem to be working, or at least no one seems interested in trying it out.  We're still pretty concerned about this, no doubt, praying and keeping tabs on the situation.

This morning we saw deer again - Madison counted seven.  They were behind the school.  It's such a simple thing, but it always gets all the kids excited, each one pointing out the car windows.  It's such a magical kind of moment, really!

But that's largely the most Daddy got to see of Madison today.  That's the nature of Wednesdays - such full days for everyone.  Tomorrow will be fun though - we'll have a bit more time together.  Oh, and Friday is going to be really magical!
