Lots of time spent at the church today, building a track for a new series, "All Aboard!" It's a train-themed series, which is essentially Daddy's idea. He's been pretty excited about it for quite some time, and it is finally going to happen Wednesday night. Just imagine the Polar Express visiting the kids. Mommy is even helping build a working model train set in our display case!

Madison has enjoyed trains during her short time with us. Of course, in October we saw that huge model train set. And we went on one at the Atlanta Zoo recently too. But the first train ride she went on with us would be the one in Disneyland, Hong Kong.

That was only a year and a half ago - and yet it seems like so much longer. It was a fun day at that park, but she wasn't quite sure what to make out of everything. Just imagine living in an orphanage your whole life, and just a few days later, you're at Disneyland! We took it easy with her, just enjoying our first family time together at the park. We spent two days there, staying the night in their Hollywood Hotel.

The second day we went, it was clear Madison was having a good time as we went back to "It's a Small World" again. She gets this intense look when she's having a really good time, and all through that ride she was soaking it all in. Her smiles were becoming more frequent, and we were having to work less to get them. She loved Dumbo, and Daddy and Mommy even rode the teacups with her (talk about a sacrifice!).

It was a nice time alone - our first family vacation, really. And yes, right there in the park, there was Madison's first ever train ride! Also her first carousel ride too.

Since then, she's been on a few trains here and there, and knows the word really well. She yells it out, and she did today when looking at our new set as well: there's a great big train on our stage now. But Daddy won't ever forget that train ride not long ago in Hong Kong. It was a simple little thing, but like much of that first month we spent together, it is hard to forget!
