New Year's Eve

It isn't just the last half hour of the year - it's the last half hour of the decade! What a decade it has been - this is the one you were born in, Madison. This is the decade we brought you home with us.

You can't sum up a decade that easily, nor can we sum up the entire year of 2009 that easily. I will say that because of Madison, it has been my happiest. It has been the most fulfilling for us, and the most joyous!

Today started like any other day, but with a twist: there was ice on the ground! Where did that come from? These meteorologists: none of them saw it coming!

Anyway, Daddy went to work for a bit, and Mommy did some grocery shopping. It was a pretty normal day. Madison watched the Baby Einstein's "Flight of the Instrument Fairies" in the playroom, and spent some time tackling Daddy. BUT the real fun came for her a little later when together, we all went over to the Canada house.

Getting out of the car, we all looked up: there it was, hanging in the sky - a blue moon. Not that frequent, and not at all frequent on New Year's Eve! When we got inside, Madison put on her tiara and grabbed a party horn. She was ready to party!

The Canadas are some good friends of ours in Forsyth County. They invited us over - along with several others families too. Great food there, and just a good time all around. They had a Nintendo Wii there, so Daddy could say he finally played that game system before the decade was out. We did a whole bunch of Mario Kart while the kids ran around and generally screamed alot. Madison ran about the house tooting her horn and laughing a lot. She had a blast!

The food is always good - always good! But the company was even better, as everyone had a good time. We left a little early because it was time for Madison to get to bed, and got home just in time for midnight. In fact, it's only a few minutes away. 2009 has just ten minutes or so to go, but before I end my last blog of the decade, here's one final picture we took together only moments ago.

Happy New Year!
