Maddie has been laughing at the Rickroll thing lately - if you're not sure what that is, this is an internet joke where readers or viewers are set up to expect something on the screen in front of them, typically by clicking on a link or in the middle of a video - but then suddenly there's an old video by Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up." This joke has been ongoing since 2007! So anyway, tonight was pretty funny, because during the taekwondo classes, the students were all lined up and ready to do a rather strenuous stretching exercise, and always there's this music playing to pass the time, and Master Edge set it up... and there it was... that same song. It was pretty funny - all the kids were laughing.
We were working a lot today on scripts and Weird Science stuff. Willy the Squirrel has been on the back deck, and we've been careful to keep him safe from the trap, although he did get trapped in it several days ago. The images we're sharing during our service are just tremendous, these magnificent nebulas and galaxies spiraling trillions of light years away. It's astounding the discoveries out there, and just the size of it all, so infinitely large. Amazing stuff.
Maddie has been doing a lot with her origami lately, and she's been making baskets and heart shapes, which are actually really cool. She hands them out to friends, and some of the others at taekwondo. Speaking of which, she's going to be going up to a second degree black belt soon - on May 15th. That's a big achievement, and we're super proud of her! It makes me think back on that time so long ago when she first started taekwondo, that very first day which you can see here.
We read tonight, and got to sleep early. We get to sleep in tomorrow, but everyone's pretty worn out lately. One note: the storms tonight were loud and amazing. I've not seen that much lightning in a long, long time. Woke us up and kept us up for quite some time!
