Thing Two

This morning we started our newest series, "Kid, You'll Move Mountains."  It's really an extension of "Whoville," as we're continuing with the Dr. Seuss theme, just in a direction that doesn't scream CHRISTMAS so much.  Madison shined this morning as a famous character from one story, a character named Thing Two:

She had a lot of fun this morning as this hyper character, as did her friend there playing Thing One.  The two of them were featured in a skit where we were talking about our main character Nerdo, afraid of "things" that would be there for him in 2019.  Our scripture for today was Jeremiah 29:11, which in fact tells us we can look forward to things in the future, so it was a great message overall, an encouraging one for everyone.  And... it was one that also featured the Cat in the Hat!

Camille continued her fantastic job with make-up as well as acting, and here was Victoria again, just recently the Grinch and now another slightly less grumpy character.  It was great to see her on stage like this, a huge addition to the morning.

Having the Cat in the Hat with us, along with Thing One and Thing Two, was a big deal this morning.  A lot of parents and kids were posing for pictures in between services, just as they were with stormtroopers and video game characters and the Grinch.  It was a pretty fun time out there on stage, and out in the lobby afterwards!

We had a great day today.  We handed out our booklets, the ones that Daddy worked on back in September, and there was quite a bit of satisfaction with the finished product.  The devotional is going to be so much fun to read these next few weeks, each day a different entry dedicated to Dr. Seuss books.

When we got home, we were working on piano, resting, and trying to stay warm.  There's a chill in the air, and in fact snow up in the mountains today.  But nothing to stop us from getting to church this morning, although the first service had slightly smaller attendance numbers.  The second service was greater though, with a pretty full room and lots of kids laughing at the skit, and having fun with the Dr. Seuss trivia questions we were throwing at them.  And of course there was worship, and a really great message from Pastor Lance.

Tonight, we continued our Dr. Seuss theme with a viewing of "Horton Hears a Who."  This movie has more significance to us, as it was one that was playing in the White Swan Hotel when we met Madison for the first time.  It was playing in the playroom, and we sat there together watching it for a bit, a nice quiet moment together on the other side of the world.

We did a few other things this afternoon - Madison working on her art with stencils and coloring, and Daddy doing a bit of writing.  Mommy took a luxurious bath before joining us at movie time.  It was a nice day today, despite the chill and gloom outside, and a great series to start off 2019!
