The pollen this year has been unusually high, or we're just simply more affected by it. Either way, it has been quite a season. The inflammation in the sinuses and the clearing of the throat and the wheezing and coughing... all of it is supremely annoying. Medicine only does so much, and on more than one occasion, the idea of moving to an island like Attu suddenly sounds appealing, if for the only reason that we all can breath more oxygen, and less misery.
I know one thing that can cheer us up: ice cream. Say the words "ice cream" and Madison gets excited. But seriously, who doesn't get excited about ice cream? We just thought we'd randomly drop by for a cone today, on the way back from ballet. It was nice to stop and get some ice cream though - Madison goes for the brightly colored flavors, generally, the things with the word "berry" in them.
Madison was dancing at ballet, while Daddy was reading the latest biography on Theodore Roosevelt, already learning some new things he never knew before. Like, the probably connection of Scarlet O'Hara to Theodore Roosevelt's mom. And the fact that there's a picture of the Lincoln funeral going by, and a young Theodore Roosevelt is in that photo, looking out a window. Anyway, beyond these bits of trivia, it's a great read.
Today was a day for doctor appointments for Mommy. Daddy did some writing while Mommy was in there getting checked up. Everything's all clear, by the way, and she has a clean bill of health. We're really blessed in that regard, especially considering all that went on twelve years ago now. She's really a walking miracle.
After the appointments of the morning, Mommy and Daddy went on a date to Texas Roadhouse. It was a nice, relaxing time together. We're coming up on a few really big anniversaries, and this one next week is one of the best: twenty years. We'll write more about that in a bit - in fact, probably on next Tuesday, we'll write the story here. We've been blessed, very much so, with such remarkable grace over us.
Madison came home, and we had a little time together beforehand. She's been working hard on her piano, and of course she's also reading about Anne Frank. And right after that, it was Loki vs. Nick Fury again with Disney Infinity. It's made somewhat of a resurgence, with invisibility and spirit warriors and attacking decoys and general chaos. Lots of fun.
We're into "A Series of Unfortunate Events" now, reading the books. The first book is pretty much exactly like the television show we just watched, so it should be pretty obvious what happens next. But eventually we'll get ahead of ourselves, and be reading stuff that's probably being filmed now. But Mommy and Madison like it, so yeah, we'll probably be reading these for the next thirteen or so books.
We said our prayers, gave zerberts and blamed raspberries on each other: "You did it!" "No, you did it!" It was a nice day today, with the weather warming up nicely. Pollen is still atrocious, but hopefully even that is dwindling away. Speaking of which, the school year is doing that, and with it, Madison's career at Chestatee Elementary. We're counting the days - it's a bittersweet thing. Fortunately, this last month seems to be filled with a lot of fun activity.
