We were folding our palms today, the ones we order every year for KidPak. Daddy printed out the "how to make a palm cross" hand-outs, and everyone was making palm crosses. Or, at least they were trying to. Daddy wound up making quite a few of them for the younger kids who were having a hard time doing it. This is something that Madison likes to do - I think we have about five or six palm crosses in the house now, but that's the tradition after Palm Sunday. So... how was service?
It went well! You can see Uma there, and of course Mal, and both are a give the other a rather suspicious look. This morning, Uma showed up in service to complicate things a bit. We're sort of writing things as we go along, but it's all been pretty fun. Mommy did a great job with the costumes, such a fantastic job. We have to give her a break for a while, because she's been working very hard on these for the past few weeks.
Madison was in the skit as well, and as always she did a great job. We gave her only one line though, as she was so busy this weekend with the ballet. She was tired. We were all tired, actually. On top of that, Mommy and Daddy were pretty under the weather today. But as you can see here, we have a great looking cast of characters, and Madison was having fun. She says she wants to be an actress now. She really enjoys being on stage!
Here's another shot of her reacting to something Carlos is saying. She's back stage with the gang, enjoying her time there with the others. She loves the actors and actresses, and really has a great time rehearsing, testing microphones, waiting back stage and of course, being out there under the lights.
A funny moment came in between services, right about the time Daddy wanted to do a group picture. Someone in the sound booth thought it would be fun to play one of the songs from "The Greatest Showman." And, given that this soundtrack is extremely popular with the actors on stage, the next thing you know there was an insane lip synch battle going on, using nearly the entire soundtrack. We had a bunch of time between services today:
This might have been the highlight of the day for Madison. It was something like a dance party, and it was pretty stunning how everyone on stage knew every word of these songs.
Ah yes, and here's the spotlight for "Never Enough," which Madison and Jovanna were sharing. There are bits of this recorded on video from various cell phones - all of it was hilarious!
Back to the service though: it was great. We're having these services that just hit all the right notes, and yeah, that's a play on words. But it's true in worship, and it's true throughout. It was a very special Palm Sunday service, starting off a very important week.
A few more pictures before we change gears. Here below is one of Mal and Uma, both on more friendlier terms.
Mommy has been the star of this series - the costumes have been all very well done. This one above for Uma was a week-long effort, on and off. Lots of sewing and painting and drawing and so forth. As you can see below, we've got a great looking cast!
King Beast was off this week, as was Nerdo - but they'll be back soon. Until then, this cast here did a great job for Palm Sunday.
So, as said, we were sick today. Madison was fine, but Mommy and Daddy had high fevers, sore throats, and all the other miseries that go with being sick. But it wasn't the flu, and it was slightly manageable, so long as we stayed home, and stayed warm.
Yes, it was bitter cold today. Cold is relative, but today's temperatures were enough of a plunge out of reality that we were all racing to cars, and racing to get inside as soon as possible. Mommy took a really long nap, while Daddy was finishing up a yearbook page - so far, we've done eleven pages of the yearbook with a Dr. Seuss theme. Madison actually drew a new character for the yearbook today, a Star-Bellied Sneetch.
We'll have this drawing on the opening page, which Madison, Mommy and Daddy designed together today. You can see the other drawings that other students did, including Horton and a mother bird up there at the top.
We're almost done with this yearbook, which is a really good thing, as it's time to start focusing on a few other important things as well.
Tonight, Madison wanted to watch "Dolphin Tale" again. No doubt, we'll see the sequel tomorrow. She saw this book the other day at the school library, and was excited to pick it up. So she's read "Dolphin Tale 2" this past week, and is all about Winter the dolphin lately.
We went to bed early, of course. All of us were tired, and some of us sick. We read a bit more from CJ Hook's adventures, and from our devotional, and that was pretty much it. Daddy was going to watch something tonight on television, but after about five minutes on the couch, we decided NOPE. It's time for bed. Which is exactly what we did!
