No ballet tonight! It was time to take a rest, and it was actually a well-needed rest. Madison has done so much over the weekend, and technically all the ballerinas were off tonight, the ones that performed over the weekend. We used the time well, with Madison catching up on her piano at first.
She's still working on "Tightrope." This is a picture of a video Daddy recorded of her playing for the first week. She's going to submit these videos weekly to show her progress to Mrs. Pam, who will then in turn give her tips and pointers along the way. So far, she's got it down with her right hand, working through the entire song.
Madison did a lot of studying today, going back to the Cold War and somewhat beforehand. She's filling in her study guide, which will be handy tomorrow because it is an open notes test. She was on the couch with this lap top, looking studious as she filled in answers about the Soviet Union and East Berlin. There are all fresh things to Mommy and Daddy, who had an interesting time explaining what it was like to Madison. We remember being terrified of nuclear wars, the Day After, and bomb drills. It's amazing how connected it all is, going back to set up World War I, which in turn sets up World War II, which in turn sets up the Cold War, which in turn sets up the battles we're facing now. That's history though, and it's something Madison is learning a bit more about as she fills in answers about Winston Churchill and Senator Joseph McCarthy.
When all was said and done, we had enough time to do the thing she set out to do: watch "Dolphin Tale 2." That was what she was really wanting to do, having red the book recently. It was one of those movies that sucked all three of us in though, and soon we were all wanting to see what happens next. This was even though we'd all seen it before!
Anyway, we read some more about CJ Hook tonight, and more from the devotional. Then it was prayers and zerberts, and the usual flurry of accusations: "Daddy, you stunk the room up! Good night Docter Stinkenheimer!"
Daddy and Mommy went to bed early once more, mainly because we're still a bit under the weather, but it was a good day overall. We got a lot done on our "to do" list, including the assembling of tax information. We packed up some things, and brought out some new things as well. And most impressive of all: we only left the house once in order to go stand at the bus stop. Mommy and Daddy did a lot around the house, including a long luxurious bath, mainly because it was so cold outside and that's the sort of thing you can do on a cold day. We had soup for lunch, and shepherd's pie for dinner - a day of comfort food. Those are the sorts of meals that are perfect when you're under the weather, and it's cold outside. This time tomorrow we should be feeling much better!
