Mommy's still working on the costuming for the upcoming series, and will be doing so for a while. It's just her, although Daddy was out with her looking at thrift shops this week. She took this one leather vest above, and added some paint to it, red and white. The fur was already on the thing, so she added speckles of white to the black fur, and painted around the zippers at the bottom. We found the boots, and the red shirt too - we'll take care of the pants tomorrow. Also, a wig arrived, so we should be fairly close to having our Carlos. Tomorrow Mommy will be focusing on Mal. Obviously, these are not exact reproductions of any particular outfit worn by the characters during the movies, but we're going for something in that range of style and color that you'd see the characters wearing. That being said, I think our Carlos should be pretty happy.
Rainy day today, and as a result Browns Bridge Road was a nightmare during rush hour. There were probably about three accidents on that road, pretty much shutting it down. Picture one long bridge that connects a big part of Forsyth County with Hall County. Now picture that bridge suddenly with a big crack in it. All of Forsyth has to turn around and drive for many miles backward, and then north or south for many miles, and then try another way in. Mommy, Daddy and Madison were stuck in this traffic twice, this immense back-up at the perfectly wrong time. Fortunately, as far as timing goes, it wasn't terrible. Meaning, we didn't miss a concert or anything.
Madison has a runny nose. I mean, it's a faucet. She didn't go to ballet tonight, mainly because we thought this would be what is best for her. Lots of running around and jumping might not be good for you if you're not feeling 100%. It's nothing huge right now, and we're hoping it's just a quick sort of thing. Precautions are taken, the humidifier is set up in the bedroom, and medications are being taken.
Tonight before bed, we continued our story from Japan. Nancy Drew has identified at least one jewel thief, but is being threatened by others. We also finished our devotional for the "Elevate" booklet. But before all that, Madison was setting up an Indiana Jones level of her own with the LEGO game. Yes, we're back to Indiana Jones again. Perhaps soon, she'll see that series of movies. In the meantime, tonight she was setting up a level, and challenging Daddy to see if he could make it through.
She played piano, of course, and did a little bit of her homework as well. She told us of an upcoming science project that she needs to do, one related to electricity. No doubt you'll be seeing the work behind that, and the end project, right here on this blog in time. Things to come!
Other than that, today was a day to finish up some of the details of the new series this weekend. The script is finalized, as is the scoring for it - music takes a bit of time to figure. Also, the imagery on screen is nearly done, including videos. No doubt, we'll be using a bit from Pogo, especially that wonderful song of his, "Wishery." It's all coming together there, so it seems weird to start focusing already on the next series messages, but that's the nature of things. Daddy is going to be writing messages for eight characters from the movie "The Incredibles," in preparation for an eight-week series that is taking place this summer. The first message is based on Violet, and in honor of that, Madison and Daddy were playing a bit of Disney Infinity tonight, using Violet - and Ezra - to race around Sugar Rush or Halloweentown. But as we wrap up for this day, here's the message related to Violet, the first of eight messages from the next series:
INCREDIBLE FAITH
Violet Parr had just made it through an incredible adventure, and
yet she didn’t know if she could do any more.
Fortunately, her mother was there to encourage her: “You have more power than you realize. Don’t think, and don’t worry. If the time comes, you’ll know what to
do. It’s in your blood.”
You see, Violet has amazing powers,
turning herself invisible, and even creating a shield around herself or
others. It’s just that she doesn’t have
as much self-confidence as others, which is why the adventure in the movie “The
Incredibles” is perfect for her.
Of course, we all struggle with
self-confidence from time to time. It
can get easy to worry or be frightened about a challenging situation on the
horizon. The thing to remember is
this: the Lord is our shield. Just like Violet, you have more power than you
realize. Our Heavenly Father is an
invisible presence, and yet a very powerful shield that gives us strength. Though you may not see it, you’re never
alone, for He is with you always. He’s
got you protected!
That’s why you should not let your heart
be troubled, because being a hero is in your blood. You’re a part of a super family, and a child
of the living God. Yes, His love for you
is incredible, and He can’t wait to see you spring to action and become the hero
you were born to be! Jesus is coming
back soon, sure enough. But until he
arrives, you’re in charge!
So look at trouble a new and different way,
and remember: We walk by faith, and not by sight!
Even though we might not see a way through life’s
challenges, when we walk in faith, we line up perfectly with the Lord’s amazing
plan for us! Don’t worry. If God be for you, nothing can be against
you!
Violet started out timid, but ended up a superhero. And by your story’s end, you can be a hero
too. Just remember the Lord is your
shield, and that being a hero is in your blood.
You can save the day with incredible faith!
