Irish You Were Here

We had a great day today, although it was a pretty busy one.  Fortunately, we slept in today - most of us.  Madison accidentally set the alarm this morning, or was it an accident?  Either way, she's going to get a little payback soon enough!

Anyway, our first visit was "Frozen" practice once more.  Just one more week until the show itself, and things are ramping up.  We were there for a while, at least Daddy and Madison were.  Mommy was at home, cooking up all kinds of Irish treats, and so when we came home, it was time to head off to Nana and Ye-Ye's house for our yearly visit for St. Patrick's Day.

First of all, their house looks amazing.  September 11th is when Hurricane Irma came roaring through, or barreling at least, and it left three trees through their house.  Things are looking very nice there today, outside of some landscaping outside.  In addition, the entire place was decorated with all kinds of Irish floral displays, Irish pictures, and lots of green.  It was like St. Patrick's Day Land!  There was Irish music playing, and when the music wasn't playing, there was Darby O'Gill and the Little People.

We also spent some time playing Uno.  There's nothing Irish about that.  It's just because Madison loves Uno.  Maybe for today we need to call it "A Haon."  Yes, that's "one" in Irish.  I had to look it up.

Anyway, the whole family was here, and it was just a wonderful time for everyone to relax and catch up on our busy lives as of late.  There was all kinds of food, from corn beef and cabbage to Irish soda bread and those amazing brownies covered with marzipan and cocoa, designed to look like Irish potatoes.

Mommy makes these every year, and they're delicious.  It's a tradition that everyone looks forward to, something to sweeten the day very much.  Also, Madison and Daddy had some Irish cream soda, which was delicious.  Oh, and we had chocolate Lucky Charms too, which are okay, although we prefer the regular flavors.  You've got to have that this time of year, am I right?

Anyway, it was a great day today.  The weather was perfect outside, and we wound up spending a lot longer there than originally intended.  This is just because it's always so nice to hang out together over there.  Madison had a great time.  Her memories of this day should be always pretty nice, a time for family to get together and laugh and play games.  The grandparents were happy to see her, of course, showering her with gifts:  literally seven Nancy Drew books.  That brought a big smile to Madison's face!

We got home late enough, and everyone was pretty tired.  We did some more work on the yearbook, as there are some deadlines rapidly approaching there.  And Madison studied her lines for tomorrow - she's got six lines in the script tomorrow.  She's looking forward to it very much!
