This is the view I have all week at the cross - I'm at the base of the steps there for a long time. The guys are coming in to the right to collect Jesus' body, and it's a powerful moment. Today's services were noon, 3pm and 6pm, so it was pretty much an all-day affair.
The place was packed of course, with a lot of people filling the seats and sitting in overflow. It was a tremendous day with over a thousand people answering the altar call. In regards to the service itself, things went well as we presented the greatest story ever told to the best of our ability.
Oh - there's those huge fan costumes, these large parachute things that sort of fan out like peacock tails.
It was a good day. Maddie kept busy with the cast backstage, and Mom was busy with costumes and laundry too - we're always doing laundry, as you might suspect. So much fake blood everywhere. But things are going well, and we all went home quite pleased with the teamwork and the end product.
We got home and were pretty tired, of course. Mom got a bath, and was surprised when she saw our Easter basket we made for her on the dining table downstairs.
Here it is, finally! So, you can see our egg version of Mt. Rustmore there, with the hand-painted eggs that Maddie and I created, drawing out the figures to match the real thing and hopefully the background colors. We used nativity set palm trees there, and placed it all in sand (held in with a garbage bag, covered with some printed out foliage to line the sides. There's a Bounty bar there and some chocolate orange bars too, and the nicest things include the framed 8X10 picture of our family with Uncle George and Thip and us at Castaway Cay. The other thing is that "message in a bottle," which includes notes from many, many people in this production thanking Mom for all her hard work. We'd be LOST without her, and she in fact rescued us... see what I did there?
Anyway, she sat there reading the notes, and there are actually two 8X10 sheets of paper filled with notes written by friends in the production. It was really sweet.
After that, it was time for bed. We're getting up early tomorrow because it's Easter and it's a big, big day. Tonight Maddie and I watched another episode of "Ultimate Spider-man," and then read from our Star Wars book about the Bith band in Mos Eisley. After that, prayers... and it's time for bed!
