"Wonderful Things"

Today was the anniversary of the date that the entrance to King Tut's tomb was discovered, and it just so happened that we were heading down the road today to see a King Tut exhibit!  We got these tickets some time ago as a birthday gift for Nana, and it was really a nice time.  This was our first time at this sort of exhibit hall where they usually have shows dedicated to Monet or Van Gogh.  This time around, it was Egypt, and King Tut in particular.

It's been noted before that we've seen King Tut's exhibit with Maddie, back when she was two years old.  Actual pieces were here and you weren't allowed to take a camera in for the presentation.  So that year we were looking back at all the things we did with Maddie, and Mom remembered going to see King Tut, but I didn't remember at all - I had completely forgotten, and there were no pictures to remind us.  So that inspired me to do the blog - this blog - so I wouldn't let days pass by like that anymore.

Anyway, this was nice.  We had those audio devices with us so we could hear descriptions of various areas and moments in history, and there were places where we were all going at different paces throughout the exhibit.

Howard Carter peeked into the tomb and said, "I see wonderful things."

It was a nice afternoon!  Here we are in the area afterwards, which is where the people seeing the Van Gogh exhibit exit as well - Maddie colored in her own "Starry Night" painting with crayons while we all sipped on drinks from a coffee bar.  Earlier we had some Chick-Fil-A together - we had enough time for that before our start time with King Tut.

Earlier than all that, Maddie had an Extreme Tricking Seminar led by an actual stunt person from movies and television series.  He was with Maddie's group over two and a half hours this morning, and she had a really great time.  We have some funny video of her working on a back flip.  But other than that, she learned a few new moves and looked pretty good lunging and kicking.

It was a full day.  We got home, and we were tired.  We watched a whole lot of Christmas stuff tonight, and we read another bit from "A Hat Full of Sky."  We'll finish that book tomorrow.  We said our prayers after that, and now... we're ready for sleep!
