Shawarma and Towels

Full day today!  Uncle George is here, and that's been great for Mom.  The two of them were over at Nana's, visiting for a while and even taking Nana out to Panera bread where she got some soup and had a nice time with her two kids.  Nana was promptly fast asleep when she got back to her place.  Meanwhile, Uncle George and Mom were getting a microwave and actually installing it in the kitchen, a new one to replace the old one that went bad on us up there above the stove.  We've been using a microwave, but it's been resting elsewhere.  Now there'll be a nice empty spot again, so they were getting a few things done today.

But so were Maddie and I.  We started out our day heading down to the hospital to visit our friend Nina, who just had her surgery to help with her spine.

It should be a really good result, but the recovery time is a bit rough.  Maddie and I stopped to visit and the family was grateful for the visit.  Maddie had a plush friend to give to Nia to spend some time with in the hospital bed.  It was a good visit, and on our way home, Maddie was snapping a few pictures of some buildings she likes the design of...

It's right next to the "King and Queen" buildings there in Sandy Springs, so we drove close by them on our way back to the interstate.  Maddie was taking a few pictures of them as we raced to the interstate.  We had to get back to work though.

On the way home, we stopped so Maddie could have her first taste of shawarma!  It was actually a great visit, stopping by the same place I stopped by earlier.  It was good food though - we got our food to go, and on the way back to the church, we were actually attending our Summer Xtreme meeting online using Zoom, so we could listen in and contribute as they spoke about plans for games and so on.  We actually arrived at the church just as the meeting was ending, walking in right when the meeting was over with.

It was a productive morning and day - we did some work, but had to get over to the movie theater after that.  We met Uncle George and Mom at the theater, and that's when we saw "Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Three."  It was such an emotional movie, and we all enjoyed it, although it was tough to watch at parts.  But it was really good.

We had spaghetti together when we got home, and that was nice.  It was a good time together with Uncle George, and because today was a special day, we saw a movie per Maddie's request:  "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."  That's right, today is Towel Day, the day for celebrating that famous novel.  We've been reading it lately, and that's been fun.  But we plugged this movie in and saw it again tonight, and although we haven't finished the book yet, we were still making all the comparisons.

It was late when we were done, but it was a great day.  Shawarma, hospital visit, Guardians, Towel Day, spaghetti, new microwave, visits with Nana.  All kinds of stuff!
