Tonight was what makes the difference with our upcoming Summer Xtreme. We had a prayer meeting at around seven, and it was about an hour and a half of prayer for the kids, for safety, for favor, and for salvations. We have this stage extension that the worship team stands on, and it needed a fresh coat of paint on the sides. We pulled that back and saw a few scriptures handwritten on them, including this one from Madison last year:
The thought occurred to us to have everyone write something down on this platform once more: scriptures and prayers for the upcoming week. Daddy wrote this one down here:
It was a moving night, one so important to all of this that is about to happen. We've done all we can, but without inviting God into it, this week is nothing more than the noise of clashing cymbals.
Madison wasn't here for this, nor was Mommy of course. Daddy got home late - but not too late. We have a big day tomorrow, as Madison is going to be getting her orange belt. Today was the fourth day of rank camp, which consisted of lots of practice with sidekicks and self-defense. On top of that, there were the usual drills and exercises. Madison actually chose this theme for the week so she could earn her first belt, and there's been no regret whatsoever coming out of her - she's really loved this camp. She enjoys the games afterwards too: this afternoon when Daddy was coming to pick her up, they were playing a "Night at the Museum" game, where the kids were all frozen in the room with the lights turned down low. The "night guard" would walk around with a flashlight, and try to catch people moving - if anyone was caught, they were "out." Naturally, when the guard was looking one way, all the "frozen museum people" would come to life - only to freeze at the last moment when the guard looked their way. She was having a lot of fun there!
We got her new karate gi today, along with the instructions on how to put it on, and how to tie her belt. She has a white belt now, and we almost feel sorry for that white belt, as it will only be worn a couple minutes and then be gone! Tomorrow the kids will put on their uniforms just before the parents get there, and just before the ceremony to get the belts. Madison is excited about that. She tried her gi on tonight, and it's a little roomy, but there's plenty to grow into. One size smaller would be not big enough, so it all works out.
Here's a news story: it didn't rain. We've had dry weather suddenly, and that gives us a little hope for next week. We have outdoor events planned, and of course the rain won't help those much. So we're hoping that all works out - we'll see. That, of course, is just one thing we pray for. But no matter what, it is all in His hands, and we feel like it'll all be okay. That's the word I got tonight, that it will be okay and to relax. No stress this year. We know it is all important and it will take a lot of work and time, but in the end, it will all be okay. That's why this prayer meeting is pretty important!
