This was a pretty long day today! We started out with a regular morning at KidPak, of course. It's Sunday, after all, and we had our next Incredibles-themed service with a message dedicated to Elastigirl. It was fun, and during the message portion, Madison was up there with a gang of girls, acting on stage:
The picture is blurry because it is part of a cell phone movie someone was taking. Madison played a robber, part of a gang of thieves on stage. It was fun, but it was a learning moment too. She had a great morning!
But after that we had our yearly Summer Xtreme Parent Meeting, where all the parents of the kids came to hear a run-through of procedures and important tips and times for the week upcoming. They also got the new t-shirts, which you'll be seeing plenty of soon enough. Here's Pastor Lance talking to the parents, and introducing his daughter.
It was somewhat of a whirlwind day after that, even though we'd already done so much. Pastor Lance, Madison and Daddy went to Zaxby's afterwards to grab a bite to eat - it was actually Madison's first time eating there. She loves the hot sauce, but she loves it so much that she drank all of Daddy's sweet tea! We haven't tried the nuclear sauce yet, but that may be coming eventually. I think that's a sort of hot sauce that you should only try as an adult. I am being dead serious when I consider it close to child cruelty to give something like that to a a child. I remember trying some about ten years ago, and I still remember it vividly! It wasn't the hottest sauce I've ever tried though. That honor goes to a tiniest sample of hot sauce from a place down in Florida. I'll never forget the feeling of "hot sauce invincibility" that was vanquished that day. It was this rest stop, and this guy was giving out samples of this hot sauce, and up until then, I was like Madison: "I love hot sauce!" But this stuff should have been illegal. I remember not having a problem with just the tiniest drop of it... not initially. But about five minutes later when we were on the road, Daddy's mouth was burning with a fire that could not be quenched. There was a rest area coming up in ten miles, and it was nearly the longest stretch of road in my life as we I was nearly desperate for water, or anything that could help. Mommy was actually in the passenger seat, praying!
Anyway, I digress. We ate there because Daddy had to drop Madison off at the house, and Pastor Lance and I went down to Midtown Atlanta.
This is the new Free Chapel campus at Midtown, which is basically Center Stage in Atlanta. Literally the last thing I saw there was over twenty years ago: Comedian Richard Lewis. Tonight was altogether different though, as we attended a service here, and it was very nice.
We were down here to do some filming on location. We filmed something on 17th street, right on the corner, just to have a change in scenery in some of our host videos. We also filmed one video inside Center Stage as well. So we got a lot accomplished, with two host videos shot for Summer Xtreme today.
Afterwards, we all went to see La Fonda.
Okay, so it wasn't this Lafawnduh. It's actually a restaurant named La Fonda, and I know for a fact a lot of other people immediately start thinking of Napoleon Dynamite when they see the title of this restaurant.
Regardless, they had some amazing fish tacos, in fact the best I've ever had. It was a really nice evening, as the group of us dined outside, talking and taking a break as we all had a pretty busy day.
We got home and got to bed pretty quickly. The air conditioning is still out, but we'll have that dealt with this week. Fortunately, cooler weather is forecast, and that will help us out. Tonight we slept above the blankets, Madison down on the couch with Mommy beside her under the ceiling fan there. Daddy is all alone upstairs, but that's just until tomorrow night, hopefully...
...as I'm going to sleep tonight, we're singing "Always and Forever" from "Napoleon Dynamite." Mommy and Daddy now have that song stuck in our heads...!
