Rank Camp

Today Madison started her first camp of the summer, Rank Camp at Edge ATA Karate.  This would be the first time she's done something more intensive with them.  Madison has been to visit a couple times for their Trunk or Treat event where there are demonstrations, kicking pads and breaking boards.  But this was her first full day of martial arts practice, and she just loved it!

We picked her up at the end of it, and one of the first things she said was how sore she was!  But it was fun, and she learned a few things today.  She was practicing her sidekick, and that was one thing that was making her pretty sore.  She did some games, and of course there was lunch time.  And another thing she was practicing with were nunchuck skills.

Yes, our daughter was practicing with nunchucks today.  Raphael would be proud.  Her daddy is certainly proud.  It's not a skill I've ever tried to learn, but here she is, working towards belts and using nunchucks.  We shared a picture online today, and this is what the Edges told her:

Bart Christine Edge So proud of Madison! She took on every challenge we threw at her.

She went to bed early tonight, ready to get there earlier tomorrow and tackle another day.  She thinks this is something she would like to go to more often, and we're okay with that.  I know it brings confidence, and with that a bit of training on how to fight.  We have no problem with any of this!

Daddy was filming today, and writing too.  Summer Xtreme, of course.  Our air conditioners should be working tomorrow, hopefully.  But until then, God has graciously cut the air conditioning on outside, bringing the temperatures to a really nice low tonight.  I'd say unseasonably low, but I'm not entirely sure.  The windows are open (with the screens on, of course), and the inner temperature is much better at the moment.

Tonight we watched "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."  Or AATTHNGVBD for short.  No matter what you call it, it was a fun movie that we all enjoyed with some popcorn.  But everyone is tired, and ready to turn in afterwards.  Daddy read a few chapters from "The Miserable Mill" and from our devotional, and we said our prayers, thankful for a great start to the camp, and for a good productive day with Summer Xtreme.  It's just a week away, and yet we seem to be on pace to have it all done and ready!
