We started out with rain, rain that continued from last night and on and off into the day a bit. It's currently dry now, but even meeting Madison at the bus stop, it was sprinkling a little bit. Still, she's clutching her book on the bus, the one called "Ghosts," by Raina Telgemeier. She's read that book a few times so far.
Daddy took the car to the dealer today for some updates, but also dropped by the local comic book shop. We're about two issues behind on the Poe Dameron story, so that was our required reading this afternoon when Madison got home.
She doesn't have any homework yet, so these are quieter times. We were sitting on the couch, reading together for a bit. But then we got the idea to plug in the Kinect again, and suddenly Madison was off to virtual Disneyland. We'll try some other Kinect games throughout the week, as it looks like we're back with that for a bit. Some of the games were fun, and some we haven't even tried out yet, like Darts vs. Zombies, or Wipe-Out. She's going to love those.
She had a great day today, going to art class for the first time with her beloved art teacher. She has a great time there, and is looking forward to another great year doing all sorts of creative things. They were starting with fractions too.
At home, we continued her "education," with our Jules Verne Fest, going back to Mysterious Island with the movie, "Journey 2: Mysterious Island." As expected, Madison liked this one better than last night's old school movie. One reason is that a star from "High School Musical" is in it. Obviously, the special effects are more up to date and the pacing much faster. It is a fun movie, actually. They hint at another sequel, and a trip to the moon. That might be fun to go see if it ever happens. Maybe they can call it "Journey: Don't Stop Believing."
Until then, there are a few other Jules Verne movies to go here at the house, including a few versions of "Around the World in 80 Days" and of course the ultimate, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea."
Tonight was a treat for dinner: Daddy grilled burgers outside. It was sprinkling a little, but it wasn't so bad: the food turned out great. Mommy made corn, and cooked up some corn dogs for Madison as well. We ate a nice summer meal. It's still summer, right?
Before bed, we were back to Nancy Drew again, another two chapters. Apparently, someone has discovered a secret entrance into an old home, and is stealing things. Hmm.... Madison and Mommy are intrigued. We'll have to keep reading to find out what happens next!
Storms are rumbling, and the radar has plenty of red on it. It seems like we'll have some storms tonight. Perhaps not the kind that cause us to wind up on a Mysterious Island, but still something to keep wary of. We said our prayers tonight, and we're thankful for the rain as always. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
