The Crimson Monster from the Pink Pool

Madison and Daddy made a trip to the movies this morning - it has been noted here earlier, and now suddenly the rest of social media is noticing that there has been very little to take our kids to go see when it comes to the movies this year.  We've had three movies, and one of them was iffy:  "Maleficent," "How to Train Your Dragon 2," and "Planes:  Fire and Rescue."

That's it.  Fortunately, last March we missed "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," so that gave us an option for an extra movie.  And it happens that the movie was free at our local Movies 400, which is a place I just simply love right now.  Who does free movies in the theater anymore?  Apparently not many folks - because the crowd this morning at the theater was pretty huge.  They used five or six or maybe seven auditoriums to play the same movie, and there was a lot of people there.  We got there a little early, and found our seats in the back - along with a big tub of popcorn and a drink.

The movie was great, although a little tricky at the end with the "how to fix things" part.  Nothing offensive or scary - just potentially confusing.  But as long as everything has a happy ending, then we're doing just fine!

When we got home though, there was a possibility there wouldn't be a happy ending.  For behold, from out of nowhere came the Crimson Monster from the Pink Pool!

Fortunately Aquaman, Aqualad, Tusky the Walrus, and Aquaman's trusty steed Storm were there to do battle with the ferocious beast!  This was all part of the Aquaman marathon, part of our 'research' for the upcoming series at KidPak.  Madison was enjoying the cartoons for what they were, one under-the-sea adventure at a time with various characters.  But Daddy was enjoying it on a whole different level, because these were so unintentionally funny.  That picture above just about sums it up!

The weather was overcast today and remarkably cool, considering it is still July.  That's been the theme of the week, a second 'Polar Vortex' that is visiting us, this one in the summer.  Temperatures should be upwards in the 90's, but instead are in the 70's, which nobody is complaining about!

We had plans for tennis tonight, but it was staring to drizzle a little.  And it was a little too cool for the pool.  So we simply stayed at home tonight, enjoying each other's company.  There was a big dinner together as always, and afterwards it was time for an early night.

Guess who called today?  Madison's next teacher for second grade.  Open house is next week, if you can believe that - and school actually starts in a week.  Whoa!  We looked up Mrs. Mullinax in last year's school yearbook, so we know what she looks like - and next week we get to meet her.  Where did the summer go?

It didn't go anywhere.  I refuse to let it pass - we have a whole month of August to get serious about summer.  There are lots of things left to do that are 'summery,' like fishing, swimming, tennis and so forth.  No, summer is not over by any means!
