Thursday - a day of ballet for Madison. A day of fall-like weather too. Also a day where Mommy and Daddy continue to feed that addiction to "Monk."
Today was the National Day of Prayer, and as always we prayed in the morning before embarking on the day. We prayed for another young boy from China named Matt Yong, as we have been doing - Madison knows Matt and his sister, and today was his big day for surgery. But we pray for other things as well. Madison invites us over to the couch, and there we pray each morning before we start our day. She invites us to sit anywhere, which is the initial joke: Mommy always sits on her lap. Or Daddy does too. But then it's down to business!
It's May Day today, which is something you yell at a airplane radio as you're going down. It's also a James Bond villain, and a day when growing up we'd see all kinds of tanks on parade in Russia, followed by soldiers attempting to out-kick the Rockettes.
But for us, it was an ordinary day. Yes, Madison went to ballet this afternoon with Daddy. Next week, she'll be learning some tips about doing her hair right, and wearing make-up right. This is a class that Mommy probably needs to attend. Also next week is the fitting for her new costume, and the time for us to buy tickets for the recital. There'll be a mad rush there, I'm sure!
But today she danced with the other pretty little ballerinas, practicing more and more the same dance. She showed a few of her moves to Mommy and Daddy at home without the music. It was just her, dancing in her ballerina outfit, right there in the living room. If I were a poet, that would be all the inspiration I would need: our beautiful daughter dancing to the music inside her head.
As mentioned above, it was chilly today. It was fall-like, which is a little early for fall. First, traditionally we have to have summer. At least that's what I see on the calendar this year. We were all moving a little more briskly from car to destination - Mommy and Daddy were moving briskly this morning too. We've been walking again now that the weather is good enough to do so. We walk down to the tennis courts and back. We may have to hold off on walking down there to play tennis though, as Madison needs to practice her piano quite a bit with that other recital coming up as well. She did play a bit today, and is doing well there. But practice makes perfect, which is why Mrs. Pam has her repeating this same song quite a few times. Daddy will add a few times to the list, just so Madison will feel comfortable playing when she gets up in front of everyone.
So we played some Disney Infinity before bedtime. There's a new toybox someone made, inspired by the Disney ride "Soarin'." Madison and Daddy were using our hang gliders, flying over all the different landscapes until we landed at Disneyland. Pretty fun concept - but after visiting a few other toy boxes, it was time for bed. Daddy read the Bible, a few passages and a devotional about praise. After that, we read from our comic book - still on this monster-sized Spider-man and Superman crossover comic. And then... it was time for Mommy and Daddy to continue our binge-watching of the entire series of "Monk." We're on season seven now - it's a jungle out there!
