We got Madison's school picture back today, and it turned out okay. It's not that radiant smile that we know and love, but it's still a pleasant enough expression. The packages you have to order contain a bunch of these tiny pictures that I can't fathom ever needing - but we did get some larger versions, which will be nice as gifts around Christmas time.
She's been doing so well at school this year - already. Daddy was helping her with some homework that she had - she brought home a book from the library this afternoon. I was going to help her read through it, and here she was already reading through it pretty effortlessly. She knew all the words, even some of the more challenging ones. I was thinking to myself, "What did this happen?" One minute, I'm helping her read and pronounce the words, and the next thing you know, she's reading sentence after sentence rapid-fire!
Homework and piano, that's the theme - and then Middle Earth as a reward. That game has been great because Daddy has been pretty exhausted lately, as sad as it is to say. I aspire to move, to do the Kinect, but sleep at night has been strange: I keep waking up!
Hopefully this pattern will end soon, but until then, at least we're spending time together, even through piano and homework assignments. She has basic math problems, and even an assignment where she is finding sight words in a book. Madison looked through about seventy pages or so, looking for words like"at" and "the" and checking them off on a list. She does this so fast now.
Daddy will have to keep up with her, I can tell already. It won't be long before it will be a challenge to do so - she's a smart one!
