Can you believe we were doing some Christmas shopping today? "Disney Infinity Power Disc Fever" has hit Aunt Shain and myself, who are helping Santa collect as many power discs as possible for the Disney Infinity system. The problem is you don't know which power discs are in each package. And each package has two discs in it. There are twenty-one total, and three are pretty rare.
Daddy has all three rare ones so far, thanks to a trick he learned on the internet. This includes "Dumbo" and the "Buzz Lightyear" car. Madison and Daddy did our only trip of the day. We went to go get some clear soap for school. Apparently, Madison's teacher is wanting to use these to make tornadoes in class. We're not entirely sure if this is entirely safe. I mean, what if one of the students makes an F5? Hopefully all the children have been doing drills, and are familiar with the storm shelter areas.
After picking up the tornado kit materials, we went to "Toys R Us," where Daddy had to be sneaky with some shopping, using employees there to pick up certain items while he had Madison distracted. Don't worry: these items are from Mommy and Daddy, and not Santa. His stuff comes from the North Pole.
We didn't do much else today, to be honest. Daddy grilled some steaks out on the back deck - Mommy made potatoes and salad, which made for a nice Labor Day meal. After eating, we played Disney Princess Checkers, as "Disney" seemed to be a theme for the day. Madison is getting better with checkers, although she almost missed a few opportunities to rule the game. I said "almost" missed, because Daddy would help her out with the standard strange warning noises that parents make when teaching their kids the best strategy for a game. Translated, the noise means, "Oh, I think you're missing something." It's kind of a noise, and kind of a sing-songy thing. And it's universal - all parents do this! And yes, Madison "whooped up." She likes checkers, and likes making queens. And jumping Daddy's checkers!
It was a fun day today, despite not doing much of anything at all. And it was an early-to-bed night too, because we're back to the old routine tomorrow. It's after Labor Day, which means we won't wear white. And it also means summer is just about "officially" over with.
To that extent, it has been cooler lately. This is due to the rain. Yes, we had rain. One early Labor Day plan was to go swimming. But that was ruled out early. The rain keeps coming, as if we live in the Pacific Northwest or something. At least the sun came out later on - but by then the day was nearly over with. We spent some time on our porch, picked the last of our tomatoes and wondered where the time went. Only four more months until Christmas, but until then... happy Labor Day!
Now let's go watch some "Monk!"
