Leprechaun Trap

We're ready for St. Patrick's day now!  Here's Madison and our new customized Leprechaun Trap - she and Daddy brought this one in to school today, as apparently they've got a leprechaun infestation problem.  This trap here should do the trick:  it's a Sham-Rock Climbing Wall® that the two of us have been working on over the past few days.  Here's a shot of it from one side:

You can see the "No Leprechauns" arrow on the side there.  It's all a trick, leprechauns will see the sign and figure there's probably something up there we don't want leprechauns nearby.  By the way, those leprechauns in the front are actually salt and pepper shakers - we got those in Gatlinburg a few years ago at that Irish shop.

Last night, Madison and Daddy glued cotton to to the top there, and Madison colored in the rainbow (and the sign).  We also glued a pot of gold up there to lure in our prey.  The shamrocks are from a local craft store - we glued those to the side with some hot glue so they can support the weight of some of those more athletic leprechauns.

So the leprechaun gets to the top, and is so excited about the gold that he fails to see the trap door we cut in the top there.  Down, down, down he plummets into the darkness of the trap!

But don't worry - there's a safety net hanging for a soft landing inside.  We may even add some Lucky Charms in there so he won't get too hungry!  We're pretty proud of this technological terror we've constructed!  Afterwards, we even did a small Irish Jig!
